Web3 Fraud Investigations Analyst

As the Fraud Investigations Analyst you will be responsible for the diligent review of fraud and scams cases across a global scope of payment channels whilst managing the complexity of the cryptocurrency landscape.

You will report to the Head-of Fraud and directly support the management of several critical systems, people and process capabilities, you will work with both internally developed and state of the art SaaS services to deliver to challenging targets in a fast paced and ever-changing environment.

You will be provided with a broad investigative scope and will be trusted to work autonomously to uncover pertinent information necessary for fraud prevention and response. Knowledge of payments fraud is imperative and an understanding of how cryptocurrency is utilised in the end-to-end crime value chain will be highly valued.

What You'll Do 👀

Fraud Investigations

• You will complete in-depth fraud investigations for both simple and complex cases.
• You will construct investigation briefs for stakeholder distribution.
• You will be on the front foot in uncovering new trends and patterns, and deliver timely information to improve fraud detection.
• You will coordinate with internal Compliance colleagues to assist in effective suspicious matters and report submissions.
• You will create, develop and operationalise investigative processes into the broader fraud operations team.

Fraud Detection

• You will support the research of relevant threat environment factors and delivery of insights to drive improvement in fraud detection and response.
• You will support fraud data exchange improvements.
• You will be responsible for developing and executing effective case root cause analysis that drives continuous improvement in fraud detection.
• You will support the identification, collection and structuring of relevant data sources to improve fraud detection across all Banxa payment channels.

Fraud Operations

• You will act as a point of escalation and SME for Fraud Specialists teams.
• You will support the investigation of Chargeback fraud and identify root causes.
• You will identify gaps in current processes and implement improvement initiatives.
• You will be a natural leader and will coach junior agents and uplift the broader team's investigative abilities.

Drive capability improvement

• You will support the improvement of customer verification and authentication tools and processes.
• You will support broader Banxa strategy delivery.
• You will be a natural problem solver by taking ownership of any uncovered problems and will drive ideas to resolution.

You should apply if ✅

• You will have previous proven experience with Fraud or AML investigations.
• You have excellent analytical skills in order to interrogate information and summarise conclusions.
• You have impeccable attention to detail and are able to follow evidence to uncover networks of fraud culprits.
• You are adaptable and resilient with the ability to work under pressure and operate in a fast paced ever changing environment.
• You have a thirst for knowledge and a passion for pioneering change in the blockchain industry.
• You have excellent verbal and written English with great interpersonal skills.
• You have the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• You are a critical thinker, with demonstrable experience in tackling hard to solve problems. You show how you break down, analyse, understand, and collaborate to get the best solution.

What will put you on top of our shortlist 🏔

• Having experience with Chainalysis or other Blockchain investigation tools is highly advantageous.

• Having knowledge of crypto assets and blockchain technology, Fintech, RegTech, Payments will be advantageous

• Previous experience in a small to medium sized high growth organisation, preferable global in footprint, is an advantage
