About the Opportunity:

This is a unique opportunity to shape and implement legal and compliance processes, and develop valuable subject matter expertise, within a complex global Web3 initiative. Reporting to our Head of Legal Operations, you will help:

  • Collaborate with international teams to prepare consistent and accurate responses and gather materials for license applications and registrations (e.g., e-money license, Virtual Asset Service Provider registration), third-party partners’ audit requests, and examination agendas globally.
  • Take responsibility, under attorney supervision, for operationalizing certain core compliance functions, ensuring the implementation of appropriate controls that reflect the business’ inherent risks and regulatory requirements, including: risk-based Know Your Customer (KYC), transaction monitoring (both on-chain and off-chain), watchlist screening, and regulatory reporting procedures.
  • Build relationships with relevant internal teams (Product, Finance, Growth, People) to help Legal “issue spot” on matters such as AML, sanctions, export controls, tax and data protection, clearly identifying steps to reduce risk or promptly seeking attorney input.
  • Improve and maintain our processes for managing legal intake requests, concluding a wide range of commercial agreements, and supporting capital raises and Board activities.
  • Proactively contribute to the Legal team‘s planning, cohesion, and consistency in guidance, as well as the general efficiency and effectiveness of the team.

About You:

  • “German and English-speaking lover of automations, learning, and financial regulations.”
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (e.g., Paralegal certificate or Rechtsanwalt- und Notariatsgehilfe), graduate degree in relevant field preferred but not required.

  • Professionally fluent in English and German (hard requirement).
  • Strong operational knowledge in building and running a sound compliance program, with hands-on knowledge and an understanding of regulatory requirements (BSA/AML regs, 4MLD, OFAC requirements and consumer protections regulations), especially in Europe.
  • Highly organized, obsessed with getting the details right, capable of defining and executing a process start to finish, and proven ability to oversee multiple concurrent projects.
  • Excellent written communicator, able to present complex issues clearly and concisely, whether extemporaneously on Slack, in emails, or in memoranda and other more formal documents.
  • Facility with program management, love of using technology solutions to help scale a team’s processes, and comfort with GSuite applications, Microsoft Office, and other tech SaaS tools (such as SQL, Looker, Figma, Slack, AirTable, etc.).
  • Experience and comfort in European and American workplace settings, and ability to travel internationally.
  • Demonstrated interest in blockchain technology, Web3, cryptocurrency and digital assets.
  • CAMS certified or willing to get certified as part of company-funded professional development.
  • Positive collaborative attitude, comfort with change and a fast pace, high level of integrity, and insatiable intellectual curiosity.
