About the Role

As the Compliance Director for Figure Pay you will work closely with our Compliance team and collaborate with business partners to lead compliance for Figure Pay. You will serve as a payments and lending expert. As an integral part of our small but agile Compliance Team, you will work on some of the most exciting compliance and business issues in fintech, crypto and blockchain today. You will interact with state and federal regulators and collaborate with our business partners as they develop, market, and enter into exciting partnerships for our products and services.

And most importantly, you thrive on building something new.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and maintain a compliance program for Figure Payments designed to drive full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and industry best practices
• Advise on and help implement cryptocurrency and blockchain-related business initiatives
• Execute compliance strategies, including gap and risk assessments, regarding payment network rules, cryptocurrency products, credit rules, business payments, lending, money transmission and blockchain
• Provide ideas, solutions and insights on compliant new products that create meaningfully impact on our customers
• Develop policies, procedures and controls
• Coordinate internal and external audits, regulatory inquiries, and self-assessments.
• Review and assist the business in developing marketing materials.
• Assist in drafting terms of use, product policies, and disclosures, and work with our legal teams to implement related processes
• Design training programs to educate cross-functional teams about the company’s compliance responsibilities, including anti-money laundering laws and payment network rules
• Assist with our money transmitter licenses
• Regularly report compliance metrics and significant changes to compliance landscape to leadership team
• Remain up-to-date on relevant industry, consumer protection, and advertising laws and regulations to ensure an ongoing ability to provide sound compliance advice

What We Look For

• At least 5-10 years of experience as a payments compliance professional, including mobile and alternative payments and emerging payments technology
• Experience with the payments, cryptocurrency, blockchain and banking or fin-tech industry and related compliance issues, including the laws, rules and regulations related to banks, bank partners, and/or the participants in various payments systems, including processors and program managers
• Extensive knowledge of financial services, payments and lending compliance requirements and regulations, including Regulations E and Z, CARD Act, money transmission laws and requirements, and UDAAP
• Experience building and executing payments program compliance risk assessments
• Experience reviewing marketing marketing materials for compliance with applicable regulations and requirements
• Demonstrated ability in analyzing compliance risks and designing, testing and evolving appropriate controls
• Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely to an audience without subject matter expertise.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to digest complicated information into executive and targeted summaries tailored to audiences across the company.
