  • Work cross-functionally and serve as a convenor with key colleagues, including Product, Growth, Economics, Engineering, and Communications.
  • Identify and know when to seek further support on key regulatory issues (e.g., securities, payments, money transmission, data protection, sanctions/export controls, AML/KYC, tax).

About You:

  • “A true crypto degen who can issue spot, brainstorm with product managers and blockchain developers, and then follow-up to ensure things get built right. ”
  • Must have excellent academic credentials and be a qualified lawyer in good standing with eligibility to practice in your jurisdiction (preference for Germany or the U.S.).
  • 5+ years of post-law school experience working as an attorney, with roles such as BigLaw firm associate and in-house lawyer in FinTech, consumer tech, or another crypto project.
  • Semi-technical understanding of blockchain technology, Web3, cryptocurrency and digital assets, and knowledge of related legal considerations.
  • Solid knowledge of:
    • financial instruments (e.g., securities, commodities, derivatives, crypto), including trading, custody, and settlement of those instruments;
    • payments laws and regulations, including money transmission, e-money issuance, virtual asset service provider, payments institution, and fintech investments;

  • An organized doer who has a checklist and ensures it gets done on time, along the way demonstrating practicality, resourcefulness, proactivity, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written communicator, able to present complex legal issues clearly and concisely to engineers and non-technical audiences, whether extemporaneously on Slack, in emails, or in memoranda and other more formal documents.
  • Comfort with startup technology solutions like GSuite applications, SQL, Looker, Figma, Slack, AirTable, etc.
  • Experience living, working, or practicing law internationally, and ability to travel periodically.
  • Fluency in English is a must, and ability to speak German is nice to have.
    Positive collaborative attitude, comfort with change and a fast pace, high level of integrity, and intellectual curiosity.
