The Role


Our team on Last Expedition are excited to announce we are looking to add to our designers. We are looking for a skilled Meta Systems Designer to design, and implement core game systems that include player progression, and other relevant free to play metagame features for our new Sci Fi FPS Last Expedition in Unreal 5. We are an entirely remote multinational design team that prides itself in our flexibility and commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities


  • Work closely with the Lead Designer to design and implement meta game systems that reward players, increase player engagement and player retention
  • Develop and implement Meta systems design best practices for the Design team
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to achieve superior results when designing and implementing meta gameplay systems
  • Help maintain a rapid iterative design process that frequently playtests and iterates based on playtest trends, data and observations

Essential Skills and Qualifications


  • 4+ years of experience as a Meta Game Designer or Systems Designer
  • Deep knowledge of meta and progression systems for action games
  • Live service experience sustaining an existing game to grow player numbers
  • High level of experience with game editors and game development tools
  • At least 2 shipped game titles as a Systems or Meta Game Designer and a passion for games as a medium
  • The ability to design and comprehend complex gameplay systems including core meta mechanics
  • The ability to implement complex gameplay systems and mechanics in blueprint or similar scripting languages.
  • Self-motivated, stellar work ethic, fun collaborator
  • Excited by problem-solving
  • Fearless

Nice-to-Have Skills and Qualifications


  • Game Economy Design experience
  • AAA console development experience
  • FPS or 3rd Person Shooter experience
  • A design geek at heart - you appreciate and see the design in everything
  • Comfortable with working remotely on a full-time basis
