Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will lead, support, and develop the accounting function at the Solana Foundation and its wholly owned US subsidiary, SF Operations Inc. We are looking for someone who can solve problems, build & streamline processes, and develop accounting best practices in a high growth environment. The Controller will play a critical role in ensuring we continue building a world-class accounting function while partnering across the business to ensure our systems and processes are running smoothly.

• Leading and developing the accounting function to support our growing business across multiple functions including Audit, Monthly Close Processes, Technical Accounting, Tax, International Accounting, and Finance Operations including Payables and Receivables
• Providing thought leadership and ownership to everything related to the accounting function
• Ensuring all financial information is accurately reflected in the general ledger in compliance with US GAAP
• Lead relationships with external bookkeeping team, auditors, accounting/tax advisors, and internal business partners
• Provide financial accounting, reporting, procedural and internal control guidance
• identifying and proposing solutions to bottlenecks in the AP/AR process
• Provide insight into actual financial results to inform monthly reporting, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow analysis, etc.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of accounting experience including 4+ years experience at an accounting firm and/or 4+ years working at a Technology start-up (preferably blockchain)
• Certified Public Accountant
• Proven experience in developing and managing a sound internal control environment in a startup, SaaS company, or other comparable organization
• An expert in financial reporting, technical accounting, accounts payable, payroll, international accounting, corporate accounting, and well-grounded in US GAAP
• Proven ability to operate under tight deadlines and high-pressure situations
• Strong attention to detail and excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Experience working with quickbooks (or other accounting software)
• Self-driven, strong sense of ownership and highly organized with a proven ability to prioritize and execute on multiple concurrent initiatives.
• Structured thinker with a strong intuition on priorities & trade-offs
• Humility, empathy and open-mindedness
• Startup experience or experience working at a company that has scaled quickly
