On behalf of our client, one of Europe’s largest digital and design consultancies we are looking for a:

Director Experience Design (m/f/d) (full-time) to join their design leadership team in Berlin

The Director Experience Design (m/f/d) steers and shapes the development of digital
products, services and platforms with a focus on UX-Methodologies, Service Design, Information Architecture and Usability. They provide value by elevating the quality of design, feasibility, workflow, collaboration, client/partner relationship, and mentorship of designers’ apprenticeship and growth. The Director Experience Design (m/f/d) is expected to be inspiring, nurturing and craft-oriented.

As a designer, they embody creativity and excellence in their core discipline. Their
designs are purposeful in approach and precise in detail. They are an
example and role model for the design team and an inspiration for the whole
organization.

As a leader, they work closely with product-, strategy-, and technology experts and
lead their team to create user-friendly and delightful experiences. They are
not only responsible for the quality of the design, but also for successfully
arguing the business value of design within their team, throughout the organization and with their clients.

Berlin is the location of the role. The company strives for a "Teams first" hybrid-working-model dependent on projects and needs. A remote start in the probation period. Pre-Pandemic: 2-3 mobile Berlin office days per week.

Aufgaben

• Design lead for Experience Design
• Clearly define and evaluate project objectives and scope
• Presentation and communication of design strategies to relevant stakeholders
• Be hands-on in creating unique products and solutions to engage users with valuable experiences
• Help shape the design discourse, engage with the community at a local level and help designers become better practitioners through career and skill development
• Evolve and guide best practices in the usage of frameworks, tools and processes
• Develop and grow a design team of currently 10-12 designers (team lead after a certain introductory period)
• Report directly to the European Design Lead
• Aim for award-winning projects and design excellence

Qualifikation

• A truly impressive background with experience creating User Experience Design for mobile apps, platforms and software applications
• 10+ years experience and experience in managing and growing of a team
• A portfolio of human-centred digital products for various clients across multiple platforms that you have not only had oversight but were also a hands-on contributor
• Experience in e-commerce with clients from consumer products & services and/or automotive sectors would be nice to have
• Experience in an agency environment or tech environments - where experience design plays an important role and with demonstrable exposure to cross-discipline processes
• Experience with workshops, design sprints, stakeholder management and presentations
• Proven knowledge of the fundamentals of Experience Design with a focus on Service Design, Design Thinking methodologies, User Research, Usability Testing as well as new platforms and technologies
• New business development experience and the ability to attract, inspire and develop clients
• Very good English skills (from C1 level) and very good German skills
