Reserve is hiring a Web3 Controller (Protocol)
Location: CA San Francisco US
About Reserve:
We believe access to stable money is a human right. Almost two billion people around the world don't have a safe place to store their money or are excluded from financial services such as payments and credit. Struggles with inflationary currencies prevent families and communities from building basic economic security. To help solve this, we currently offer financial services in high inflation economies so that everyone can protect the value of their money. Our app users in Latin America can easily save and spend in US dollars, without worrying about their money devaluing overnight.
That said, we're not a bank. Reserve is a new way to store and move money, creating new saving and spending experiences beyond borders. We are actively expanding to new regions, and would love to explore if you could be a fit for our team! More information on our mission and the people behind it can be found here. Please note that this role supports the Protocol side of our business, not the application side of the business.
Role Summary:
We are a small team, and for the foreseeable future you will be directly in charge of accounting and bookkeeping, including the design of systems and the direct work of making sure everything is accurate and up to date. We require annual 3rd party audits, which you'll lead. Reporting to our CEO, you will have direct responsibility for the books and records of the main treasury company within the Reserve project, as well as incorporating financial statements from several other companies in our corporate group for consolidated group tax filings. You'll hold a corporate officer title for one of the subsidiaries in the group, and will work with the Finance Director of that company to ensure everything is being done in accordance with GAAP. You'll consider US tax owed on behalf of controlled foreign corporations in our group, and other exotic nuances that come along with running a crypto project early in the history of cryptocurrency. You'll probably use a high-powered accounting system like NetSuite rather than Quickbooks or Xero in order to be able to roll up financials from multiple entities, and you'll probably use a crypto-specific platform like BitWave to track our token movements across exchanges and DeFi applications on-chain, but these platform choices will be up to you as the person in charge of the area.
We have many systems in place today, and you will have the option to keep or upgrade them as you see fit. You'll learn the ropes from our existing part-time CFO, who will transition out and leave you fully in charge once you are ready. You'll spend some of your time budgeting and forecasting, and you'll contribute to some financial strategy decisions in coordination with the CEO, but the majority of your time at the start will go into accurate tracking of financial activities. If you are able to handle all of that and still have time left over, and if you have the desire and judgment required, you may end up helping with the investment allocation of the treasury in order to maintain and grow the treasury, as well as working on other financial projects that arise over time. It's a startup environment, so there's a lot of room for growth as the project progresses.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in financial management.
- Solid understanding of financial management and accounting.

- A strong command of the English language
- Spanish fluency (A large part of our team is based in South America)
- Web3/Defi Background
- Compensation: Competitive salary + token grant.
- Location: Work remotely from anywhere, but expect to be online for US working hours.
