THE ROLE

Localcoin is looking for an engaging and passionate Director of People & Talent who is responsible for leading and managing People & Talent initiatives that support the company’s overall business strategy.

As a Director of People & Talent, you will be responsible for the planning and implementation of all employee lifecycle initiatives at Localcoin. This includes areas such as talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, coaching, training & development, compensation & benefits, culture building, employee engagement, diversity & inclusion and employee relations.

This role reports to the Co-Founder and is based out of our Head Office in Toronto, ON.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Champion the vision, mission, strategy and execution of the fast growing People & Talent team
  • Act as a key advisory member on the executive management team that creates the organization's overall vision, mission, values, beliefs, and strategic goals by:
    • Assisting department leads in development of company goals
    • Providing guidance on business decisions from a team and culture perspective
    • Advising company leadership about Human Resources issues
    • Determining People and Talent direction and creating the department budget
    • Ensuring leadership are living the company’s values, and that values are refreshed if problematic
    • Providing periodic reports for updates and to track strategic goal accomplishments of the People & Talent department

  • Lead the People & Talent team which includes managers, specialists and generalists and oversee their performance on initiatives and projects
  • Act as a strategic business partner focused on providing coaching to leadership teams on all HR and Talent related matters to guide business decisions to attract, accelerate and retain top talent
  • Collaborate with leaders to create and direct the organizational plan in order to evaluate and recommend updates and changes to team structure, job design and personnel forecasting
  • Oversee the companies wage and salary structure, pay policies and the variable pay systems within the company including bonuses and raises, using market data and internal compensation philosophy and budgets.
  • Create and oversee organizational policies and procedures necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship while ensuring local employment law compliance are in effect
  • Own the performance management and people development process by; designing systems and processes, building team and company OKRs, coaching and training on performance initiatives.
  • Oversee and guide the Talent Acquisition efforts and processes ensuring fair and equitable hiring practices are adhered to and company hiring goals are achieved
  • Create and maintain a strong employer brand by leading employer marketing initiatives such as blog posts, video content, employee spotlights and recruitment events
  • Manage and maintain relationships with external HR & Talent partners such as HR consultants, employment lawyers and recruitment agencies
  • Leads the implementation of company safety and health programs, including COVID-19 measures. Monitors for compliance and quality, including ensuring appropriate work life balance, equipment & resources, health benefits and initiatives to reduce work related stress and increase psychological safety.
  • Leads with the value of Diversity & Inclusion across the company and finds opportunities to limit the impact of bias on decision making processes.

THIS IS YOU

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience of progressive HR & Talent experience in a high-growth environment
  • Minimum of 5+ years in a senior leadership role with a demonstrated ability to drive a vision and strategy with high growth top of mind
  • CHRP/CHRL designation is strongly preferred
  • Proven experience leading, building, coaching and empowering strong leaders and teams
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work in partnerships with the Co-Founders and leadership teams to understand the business needs and provide strategic direction
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations and practices in both Canada and in the USA
  • Analytical and problem solving skill with the ability to make data driven decisions while drawing from previous experience
  • Self-driven and autonomous; you like to operation at both the strategic and tactical execution level
  • Tech-savvy individual with experience working with a diverse tech stack such as Performance Management software, Human Capital Management Software, HRIS and ATS
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work well under pressure within a rapidly changing environment
