THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client will send you a laptop for this engagement and you have to be in the US to receive this laptop, so we'll require a US-based mailing address before the interview with the hiring manager.

Our client is looking for a strategic, creative candidate to join their fast-growing insurtech start-up as the Lead Product Designer. A natural problem-solver, you understand smart design processes and know, how to translate insights into actionable solutions. What you’ll do

Lead: Manage and lead the team of designers, mentor UI/UX designers, and set long-term and sprint priorities for the team

Trust the process: Step into a methodical design process anchored in planning, prioritizing, and scheduling releases

Strategize & problem-solve

Balance customer needs and Direct’s business goals, market viability, and technical feasibility

Translate customer insights into concepts, user journeys, storyboards, system maps, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes using Figma, Adobe CS, and other design tools.

Incorporate user research and usability testing to integrate into product solutions

Design UI and UX with a conversion-optimization-focused mindset

Together with the team, produce UI/UX documentation for website and conversion flows, including sitemaps, wireframes, and prototypes

Collaborate

Thrive in an agile development environment and enjoy the pave of a startup

Effectively collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including product managers, engineers, marketers, and executive leadership

Partner with engineers to ensure designs are properly implemented
What you bring to the table
-
Design and Leadership Experience: 7+ years of design experience with a portfolio of successful case studies and a successful track record leading a team of designers

Strategic Creativity
-
You have experience delivering design strategies, concepts, personas, user journeys, storyboards, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and more.

You understand and use throughout your work design thinking process requirements, including the typical time and resources needed to produce quality work

Design fluency

You bring an eye for detail and a great sense of aesthetics and functionality

You have experience working with a design system and have a deep understanding of the digital product lifecycle

You have experience working on (or ability and high interest in) UI and UX research and strategy

You’re comfortable with development processes and tools. You have a working knowledge of Figma and Adobe CS, as well as familiarity with basic HTML/CSS, React, APIs, etc.

A strong communicator, you can articulately express and present the rationale behind design decisions in a thoughtful way

Ability to collaborate with the design team and cross-functional teams to drive win-win solutions and generate new impactful ideas
