Senior UX Researcher

Remote ( European Time Timezones)

Every day we interact with technologies controlled by a handful of large companies whose interests and incentives often conflict with our own. If we want the benefits of using their proprietary apps, we’re forced to agree to terms that most of us will never read, granting these companies far-reaching control over our online lives.

At the same time, progress in open-source and decentralized technologies like blockchain has shown that we can build systems that prioritize individual sovereignty over centralized control. With these new technologies, there’s no need to trust any third parties not to be or become evil.

Parity Technologies is a team of the world’s premiere blockchain developers building industry-leading technologies that enable developers, startups, and enterprises to create this next wave of better products and services. We have worked on Substrate, Polkadot and Kusama. You’ll join at a critical moment when the future of the decentralized web is being shaped, and perform an influential role in making a more equitable society.

As a Senior UX Researcher, you will:

  • Reveal what hypothetical and current users need from the business’s products by developing Parity’s capability to engage with users. Conduct interviews and research, and in/validate use cases.
  • Explore consumer behaviour and motivation, while working with the Product Design Guild and Product Development (engineering) departments in developing new products or adding/removing features. This means collaborating with lots of small product teams each working on a different part of the larger puzzle.
  • Defining goals, choosing the right research methods, recruiting users, communicating with them, writing research scripts, conducting the research itself (interviews, usability testing, card sorting, use cases, and so on), organising and analysing the results.
  • Drive internal change through the delivery of excellent written, oral, and visual presentations about your findings.
  • Provide teams with the information and artefacts to ensure that the consumer’s experience with products feels more intuitive, fun, accessible, and quite possibly, more magical than competitors. Note that the majority of our users are software developers as opposed to end-users of software applications.
  • Create artefacts such as personas, journey maps, low-fidelity wireframes, affinity sorting, some prototyping, and running workshops.
  • Work across role boundaries when needed to provide support.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in a UX Researcher related role.
  • Ability or desire to lead our UX research.
  • Able to source users and run interviews, or use online tools to the same effect.
  • Able to create personas, journey maps, low-fidelity wireframes and run workshops.
  • Outstanding written, presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of marketing, business and user goals and executing to meet them.
  • Blockchain familiarity/curiosity
  • Has experience working with software engineers
  • Understands highly technical products.
  • Working experience in cross-functional teams with designers, developers, and marketers.
  • Ability to learn quickly and maintain a high speed of execution in a loosely structured, fast-paced, and rapidly evolving environment.
  • Familiar with or willing to work on Figma, FigJam, Miro, Google product suite.
  • Able to work collaboratively with a multitude of stakeholders.
  • Experience or willingness to work with remote testing tools
  • Able to share links to presentations given or artefacts created when applying.

Further Relevant Experience:

  • Experience in visual design is ‘nice to have’ but not required
  • Git or basic code literacy

Benefits:

Working at Parity means focusing on the stuff that counts: building the most cutting-edge technology for the future web. Our teams enjoy a high degree of trust, freedom and autonomy to achieve that goal.

Because we value initiative and learning, we've defined a generous personal budget to attend conferences or skills courses of your own choosing. We think you know what's best for you.

Parity is a diverse company with people from various countries and we will support you with German language courses where needed.
