About the Team:
The Economics team uses a market design approach to develop practical incentive mechanisms that scale to more than a billion participants of the Worldcoin network. In our team, Economists, Computer Scientists and Statisticians work together to rapidly design, build, and field-test Operator auctions, user incentive programs, fraud mitigation techniques, etc., that work robustly with thousands of Operators and billions of users around the world. Using data from large-scale field experiments, we iterate quickly and often to optimize our designs.
About the Opportunity:
You will be responsible for the design and evaluation of economic mechanisms that are part of Worldcoin’s overall incentive design. The specific mechanisms you will work on will vary over time (as the system evolves), and include auctions, user reward mechanisms, fraud mitigation techniques, etc. The scope of your work includes the analysis of user needs, the conceptual design of new mechanisms, working with UI/UX designers and software developers to build and implement these mechanisms, and working with experimental economists and statisticians to evaluate the new mechanisms. With your work, you will have a large impact, influencing which mechanisms Worldcoin will use on a global scale as part of its incentive design.
- Work in a team to design, implement, and evaluate new economic mechanisms
- Align with other teams at Worldcoin (including legal, growth, product, crypto) on the design and implementation of new mechanisms
- Oversee the implementation, execution, and evaluation of the new mechanisms
About You:
The ideal candidate is practically oriented and thrives in a fast-paced and continuously evolving environment, with a proven track record of successfully designing practical market mechanisms. We’re open to both junior and senior candidates for this position.
- PhD in Economics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or related field
- Expertise in mechanism design / market design
- Experience working on or analyzing real-world market design problems
- Ability to own problems end-to-end, ability to get the job done
- High-quality publications in mechanism design/market design a plus
