Web3 Controller

SuperLayer is a crypto venture studio led by Kevin Chou and Mahesh Vellanki, who between them have launched multiple successful gaming and crypto companies including Kabam (free-to-play games, exited for ~$1B), GenG (esports), Forte (blockchain for gaming, >$1B latest valuation) and Rally.io (creator coins, >$5B total market cap). SuperLayer builds tokenized consumer businesses, supercharging their development with crypto technology and expertise from Rally and Forte that can take a typical 2-3 year build and instead launch new businesses in 4-6 months. We develop concepts internally, recruit world-class founding PMs to lead the product, fund the early development until public launch and then help raise venture capital from leading investors in the space.

SuperLayer is looking for an experienced Corporate Controller with an entrepreneurial mindset to be the founding member of our Accounting team. In addition to owning SuperLayer’s accounting responsibilities, the Controller will liaison with our Portfolio Company’s executive teams to address foundational accounting needs, while ensuring flexibility for future optionality.

REQUIREMENTS

In this role you will…

• Deliver high-impact insights and presentations to SuperLayer’s leadership and the Portfolio Company’s executive teams.
• Maintain a strong focus on best in class execution and deliver short-term results, while moving towards the longer-term vision.
• Own the company’s accounting function, which includes accounting operations, financial reporting, and accounting policies and compliance with GAAP and NFT/crypto best practices.
• Manage all monthly, quarterly and year-end closings, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Own the annual financial audit, federal, state and local tax return preparations, and other filings.
• Lead the transition to a more robust ERP, while identifying, implementing, and maintaining internal controls.

To be a good fit for us, you have...

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with both public/private company leadership roles.
• CPA and/or Masters in Accounting.
• NFT / crypto accounting experience is a plus, but not required.
• Must have prior experience in a hyper growth environment.
• Must have prior experience in completing financial audits.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and must be technically and operationally knowledgeable in GAAP.
• ERP system expertise (QuickBooks, NetSuite and related), including transition and integration from one ERP system to another.
• A willingness to roll up sleeves and get in the details.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ownership mindset with a high degree of accountability.
