The Department: Legal

The Legal department at Mesh provides a broad range of legal support services to Mesh; its incubated spoke entities including: Treum, Decrypt, Serto, Open Law, Baseline, Identity Protocols, Sobol, Liquality, and Applied R&D; as well as twenty companies selected biannually to participate in the Filecoin Launchpad Accelerator, powered by Tachyon. As a lawyer within the Mesh Legal department, you will handle a variety of cutting edge matters along the intersection of blockchain technology, investment management, regulatory analysis, strategic business advice, intellectual property, and general corporate work. On this team, you will tackle complex and unprecedented applications of the current legal system to the revolutionary industry of blockchain technology.

The Role: Corporate Counsel

As Corporate Counsel at Mesh, you are a talented generalist and team player. Leveraging both breadth and depth of experience at a law firm and/or as in-house counsel, you will lead the drafting, revision, evaluation, and negotiation of strategic partnership, IP licensing, consulting, marketing, non-disclosure, and other financial, commercial, technology, and vendor agreements. You will also help Mesh scale a nimble and efficient legal agreement workflow. By working closely with each of Mesh’s internal teams, you will play a critical role in building our business.

Responsibilities:

• Draft, evaluate, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements
• Proactively identify and provide risk-weighted advice to business principals that succinctly balances commercial upside against corresponding legal, financial, operational, and reputational risk
• Revise established templates to support Mesh’s growing commercial contracting needs
• Provide legal administrative support to Finance, Operations, and HR
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams as a business partner
• Collaborate with and support the General Counsel and the rest of the Legal department to evaluate and communicate legal risks to internal stakeholders and external parties

Minimum Qualifications:

• A JD or LLM from a leading accredited U.S. law school and a license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• 2-3 years of relevant legal experience at a top national law firm and/or in-house legal department
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements
• Detail-oriented, resourceful with excellent follow-through skills, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Hard-charging, innovative, and comfortable with high levels of responsibility and self-direction

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of and interest in disruptive technology, financial services, or security; prior experience working in fintech, digital assets or high-growth tech companies
• Fund, investment, or emerging companies experience
• Proven ability to proactively, efficiently, and accurately assess legal business risks in a fast-paced environment
• Track record of creative problem-solving, excellent written and oral communication skills, and creation of strong and trusted cross-functional relationships
