Web3 Head of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs

Role Description

We are looking for an experienced professional, reporting to our General Counsel, to lead Galaxy Digital’s regulatory and legislative affairs efforts. The role will focus on U.S. Federal and State policies relating to digital assets and financial services and their impact on Galaxy Digital. The head of legislative and regulatory affairs will work closely with key internal business partners, as well as externally with relevant trade associations, think-tanks, and policy organizations to support responsible policy development in the digital assets sector.

Responsibilities

  • Develop legislative and regulatory objectives and strategies, consistent with Galaxy Digital’s overall strategic goals and culture of compliance, ethics, and integrity.
  • Understand and interpret regulatory, legislative, and other policy actions at the U.S. Federal and State levels and their impact on Galaxy Digital.
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with government officials to maximize appropriate participation by Galaxy Digital in the policymaking process, including by cultivating relationships with key legislative allies of the digital assets industry and serving as a reliable source of information on digital assets.
  • Establish and implement strategies to communicate policy positions to government constituencies and advocate before relevant elected officials and public entities, including direct oral advocacy and development of hearing testimony, comment letters, draft legislation, and other written materials.
  • Develop swift responses to policy actions and proposals to advance and protect Galaxy Digital’s business objectives and improve the regulatory climate.
  • Support senior executives through briefings, analysis and recommendations in respect of Galaxy Digital’s interactions with government officials and other stakeholders.
  • Make recommendations regarding appropriate activities of any Galaxy Digital associated political action committees, including contribution recipients, contribution amounts, and sponsorship of meetings and other events for appropriate Galaxy Digital personnel.
  • Partner with internal Galaxy Digital functions, including Legal & Compliance, Corporate Communications, Investor Relations and Research, and Galaxy Digital’s business units to develop and advance legislative and regulatory objectives and further Galaxy Digital’s role as a credible source of market information and analysis on digital assets.
  • Work with relevant trade associations, think-tanks, and policy organizations to support responsible policy development in the digital assets sector.

Requirements

  • Oversee budget and resource plans for Galaxy Digital’s legislative and regulatory affairs efforts.
  • Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree in public policy, law, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Eight or more years’ experience working in or with senior levels of a financial services regulator in Washington, DC, such as the SEC, CFTC, Department of the Treasury, or in a senior role on Capitol Hill working on financial services oversight and legislation.
  • Experience in an operational government affairs role, which can be either as a consultant, trade association executive or in-house employee.
  • Deep understanding on federal regulatory and legislative procedures, particularly as they affect high technology financial services companies.
  • Ability to work effectively with consultants on a regular basis.
  • Excellent judgement, analytical rigor, and business pragmatism. You must be able to make tactical government affairs decisions in a fast-growth, regulated financial services firm with minimal supervision.
