The Role

The social media manager is responsible for engaging and growing a16z’s social channels by creating and distributing informative, high-value social content to different audiences across various platforms. The social media manager will work closely with our marketing, editorial, and vertical investing teams to develop campaigns that support firm-wide initiatives. The person in this role will have a passion for technology as well as writing and creating content that influences, educates, and sometimes entertains. They should be a student of the latest social media trends and strategies and enjoy building community.

To join our team, you should be excited to:

• Own key a16z social media audiences and build a social content strategy around them.
• Plan, produce, distribute social content and analyze performance.
• Build and manage a social media calendar.
• Create and test original social content in various formats, including video/audio clips, screenshots, charts/graphs, diagrams, tweetstorms, etc.
• Actively track and manage a community of fans and influencers.
• Work with vertical investing teams to design social campaigns in support of key announcements or content drops.
• Measure weekly channel and post performance, sharing insights and learnings with marketing and investing teams.
• Setup social listening for keywords and target audiences and use insights to constantly refine social strategy, sharing back with larger vertical teams.
• Research and identify growth opportunities across new platforms, niche communities, groups, etc.
• Adapt voice and playbooks for different verticals and “key opinion leaders” within them
• Share social best practices and guides for partners.

Minimum Qualifications

• Deep expertise as both social creator and strategist
• Managed high-visibility / high-profile accounts or top brands
• Self-starter, strong collaborator, and effective communicator across all levels
• Background in or knowledge of crypto, fintech, or finance.
• Very good judgement: knows when to push and when to play it safe
• Excellent copywriter, can adapt >
• Real passion for social media and a hunger for knowledge / intellectually curious
