Overview
StarX (under Steel Perlot) is working on transforming human capital into an investable alternative asset class. Backed by several former FAANG CEOs, recognized technologists, and successful investors, we are utilizing blockchain technology to help create an engaging social NFT platform and centralized token exchange. We are looking for an experienced senior front end engineer to help us build and develop the back end architecture for our marketplace and exchange where NFTs and other ERC-20 tokens will be traded.
Description
As a Front End Engineer, you will work closely with the rest of the engineering team, product managers, and designers and be responsible for implementing and designing an interactive front end for helping create an engaging and user-friendly storefront for a new alternative asset class in human capital.
The position is based in New York, NY or Los Angeles, CA with full-time salary and benefits. Engineers will be based in the office and may work remotely depending on the situation.
Key Responsibilities, Prioritized
- Quarterly OKR setting, against key responsibilities below to be set with direct supervisor
- Frontend Infrastructure
- Design, create, and deploy secure, scalable and sustainable public-facing UI systems.
- Produce the most user-friendly and aesthetically appealing UI and UX from start to finish in all layers of our products by working closely with our product designer.
- Build, maintain and test core components of frontend architecture to ensure that interactions are fast and responsive.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing systems/workflows for performance, speed, and accuracy.
- System Integration
- Work closely with the backend and smart contracts team to integrate the data, engine, and communication layers with a seamless Web2 and Web3 frontend experience as well as handle integrations with regards to both traditional (Credit Card), and cryptocurrency (Coinbase commerce, Bitski, etc) payment rails.
- Bolster Engineering Practices
- Collaborate closely with all engineering teams to ensure consistency in understanding of technical requirements and overall work quality.
- Provide mentorship to your peers throughout the wider engineering team through code reviews and education on best practices.
- Assist the engineering team in set-up, maintenance and ongoing development of continuous build/ integration infrastructure.
- Train and support developers to align on source control, through build automation, merge resolution, CI, test automation, deployment based on tools usage and policies, standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong experience with frontend architectures and system design:
- Fluent in ReactJS, VueJS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Typescript.
- Experience designing consumer-facing experiences for desktop and mobile
- Excellence in UX thinking, visual design, and written communication.
- Experience working in a collaborative environment with engineers.
- Preferred Crypto and FinTech Awareness: Understanding and experience working in the crypto and blockchain industry. Preferred experience using ethers.js and web3.js.
- Comfort in ambiguous unstructured environments: Building something new comes with significant ambiguity, and we want people that can thrive in that ambiguity. ****The environment is highly dynamic, and there are no precedents.
Requirements
- Received a bachelor's degree in CS, EE, or a related technical field, and proven excellence in previous roles.
- 3+ years of experience developing successful UI/UX products including component-based web apps with popular JavaScript frameworks
- Preferred awareness of DeFi and how to bridge Web2 and Web3 interactions.
- Be based at the office in New York or LA and be able to travel within the U.S. and internationally on a regular basis as needed.
