Monet Bank is hiring a Web3 Strategy and Operations Manager
Compensation: $117k - $135k estimated
Location: TX Plano US
About Monet Bank
Monet Bank is pioneering the future of banking and money movement—faster, cheaper, and crypto-native. The passage of the Genius Act has enabled a future we want to explore where interchange fees and inefficient payment rails may be replaced with a modern, programmable alternative powered by stablecoins.
At our core, we believe Monet Bank is the essential bridge between crypto and traditional finance (TradFi).
As a profitable, well-capitalized Texas state, FDIC-insured bank, Monet sees the fundamental inefficiency of the 2-3% card network payments and seeks to build a strong team to understand and pursue the future of money and banking.
Role Overview
We're seeking a dynamic Strategy & Operations Manager with a consulting background—ideally from a top firm like Oliver Wyman—to drive strategic initiatives in our early-stage fintech startup. This role is pivotal in building our foundation: from crafting business cases and analyzing market opportunities to assessing talent, refining product vision, and managing financing/venture negotiations.
You'll join us in helping to build a digitally-native bank from the ground up, contributing directly to rearchitecting banking for the digital age in a hands-on, foundational capacity.
As an early hire, you'll wear multiple hats in a fast-paced environment, collaborating directly with leadership to operationalize our stablecoin-powered payments infrastructure.
If you thrive on ambiguity, excel in high-stakes problem-solving, and have a passion for fintech/crypto innovation, this is your opportunity to build the future of digital money.
We're targeting profiles similar to Engagement Managers at leading consultancies, who excel in leading cross-functional teams, managing end-to-end client engagements, and delivering high-impact strategy and operations projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Build Business Cases and Analyze Opportunities: Develop comprehensive business models, conduct market research, and evaluate growth opportunities in stablecoin adoption, merchant payments, and cross-border fintech. Identify inefficiencies in TradFi and propose crypto-native solutions, leveraging due diligence expertise to assess risks and potential.
- Negotiate Financing and Venture Negotiations: Assist the executive team in term sheet reviews, investor communications, financing strategies. Support capital raises by preparing pitch materials, financial projections, and due diligence.
- Strategic Projects: Tackle ad-hoc initiatives, such as competitive analysis, or partnership development, applying structured problem-solving and oversight typical of an engagement manager at a leading consulting firm.
- Talent Identification and Assessment: Scout, evaluate, and onboard top talent across engineering, product, compliance, and sales. Leverage your network to attract high-caliber professionals from consulting, fintech, and crypto spaces, applying rigorous assessment frameworks from consulting engagements.
- Stakeholder Management & Communications: Facilitate seamless communication and alignment across internal teams (engineering, product, sales) and external partners (merchants, tech giants, regulators). Manage relationships with investors and key stakeholders, ensuring clear, consistent messaging.
- Operational Excellence: Streamline internal processes, from compliance workflows to partnership integrations. Monitor key metrics (e.g., transaction volumes, merchant adoption) and drive data-informed decisions, overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure seamless delivery.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, legal, and sales teams to launch pilots with merchants, tech giants, and fintechs. Facilitate stakeholder alignment in a startup setting, leading teams through complex projects as you would in a consulting engagement.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in management consulting at a top firm (e.g., Oliver Wyman, McKinsey, BCG, Bain), ideally as an Engagement Manager or equivalent, with exposure to digital assets, fintech, and payments.
- Proven track record in leading project teams, managing client engagements day-to-day, overseeing delivery, and handling strategy, operations, or due diligence projects in areas like financial services, communications, or post-transaction advisory.
Skills
- Strong analytical prowess: Excel in financial modeling, market sizing, and scenario planning.
- Strategic thinker: Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights and drive high-impact recommendations.
- Operational mindset: Experience optimizing processes, scaling operations, and ensuring project execution from inception to delivery.
- Team Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor junior staff, and bridge between associates and senior principals/partners.
- Fintech/Crypto Knowledge: Understanding of stablecoins, blockchain, TradFi rails (e.g., interchange, KYC/AML), and regulatory landscapes (FDIC, OFAC) is a plus, with specialized consulting experience in digital assets or payments highly valued.
- Personal Attributes: Entrepreneurial spirit, comfort with ambiguity, excellent communication (written/verbal), and a bias for action. Ability to thrive in a remote/hybrid startup environment while maintaining the structured rigor of consulting.
What We Offer
- Impact: Be a foundational hire shaping a $1B-capitalized bank disrupting trillions in payments, with the unique chance to join us in building a digitally-native bank from the ground up.
- Compensation: Competitive compensation linked to upside, performance bonuses, and comprehensive benefits (health, 401k, etc.).
- Culture: Innovative, collaborative team passionate about programmable money. Flexible work, professional development, and exposure to cutting-edge fintech.
