The Role

Responsibilities:

• Lead and set the strategic direction of our accounting function and related systems
• Direct all day-to-day operations of the accounting function, including
• Accounting & financial reporting, including timely month-end closing processes
• Systems - building them out, maintaining them, and upgrading themTax
• Compliance / Regulatory
• Lead the team that manages AP/AR
• Guidance of third party accounting/audit firms
• Create and present accounting reports that give Alchemy insights into its business performance
• Ideal candidate will be able to distill complex financial information into key insights that can be used for strategic decisions
• Create and present financial reports with our finance team that can be delivered to our Board of Directors and investors
• Build guidelines and procedures that yield strong internal controls (financial, regulatory, etc.)
• Lead special projects around rev rec, vendor analysis, customer analysis, etc.
• Work cross-functionally with other teams at Alchemy (e.g., Operations, Sales, People, Engineering, Product, etc.)
• Build and lead a best-in-class accounting team

What We're Looking For:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferred
• 8 – 15+ years of experience in accounting, including in a mix of time working for a large audit firm and time as controller at a tech company
• Public accounting + a minimum of 2 years in industry necessary
• Expertise in crypto is a plus, though not required (given there are very few crypto accounting experts out there :)
• Technical knowledge of and the application of US GAAP
• Self-starter comfortable working in a thriving, evolving environment; strong interpersonal and communication skills are key
• Expertise in directing internal or external teams on tax preparation
• A natural problem solver and be able to distill the big picture into scalable outcomes
