Head of Partnerships & Business Development

New protocol, nearing launch, straddling the worlds of web3 (Ethereum, then beyond) and digital payments. This role demands deep knowledge and enthusiasm about both. You’ll work closely with the product, marketing, and company leadership to recruit and support key partners, inform strategy and accelerate our roadmap. You’ll need to be relentlessly creative and optimistic — hustling the $#!% out of any potential opportunity to build our client influence and maximize serendipity around the project.

We’re focused on contributing to the new clients. Protocol and building Bend. The our client protocol is designed to accelerate how money moves across web3. It aggregates liquidity across valuable payment routes and enables intuitive end-user experiences with features like cross-wallet and cross-chain balance aggregation, sub-second transaction routing, and smart settlement according to user preferences. Bend is the product we build to demonstrate what the protocol makes possible — to show that we can build a seamless payment experience that anyone can use, with web3 today.

With both our client Protocol and Bend, we continue to push the boundary of what crypto enables and just how powerful the user experience can be. We’re a team of 20 hell-bent on doing our very best work (individually and together), solving hard problems, staying optimistic, and believing money should be better. Requirements

As Head of Partnerships & BD at our client, you will:

  • Grow our client product and partner our client through protocol launch and beyond
  • Be a face of the our client protocol and our Bend product, and an expert on both of them, to partners and customers throughout the web3 space
  • Develop the foundational components of our client’s business development capability, including the development of team processes, the requisite tech stack, the goals for our client and Bend, and more
  • Build relationships with relevant prospects and stakeholders to ensure that the business development pipeline is generating conversions for the our client protocol and Bend at a high pace
  • Develop a strong pipeline of partnerships for the our client protocol and Bend, driving growth with user activity, volume, and product development
  • Ensure rapid expansion into new markets that align with product and business goals and allow for a healthy, forward-looking growth of our client products

We’re looking for you if:

  • You have previous successful experience (i.e., a company with a proven track record with success milestones related to product or acquisition) as a tech startup operator in a similar business development leadership role
  • You have a demonstrated track record of creative dealmaking, negotiating the most favorable terms aligned towards product and company goals, while iterating rapidly on improving future process with new partners
  • You have experience taking a BD function zero:one, as well as managing and scaling business development teams
  • You’re not done yet; you want to go back to early stage, with all the hustle that requires
  • You’re highly proficient with business development tech tools and other general digital organizational tools (e.g., Notion, Slack, etc.)

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of experience in Web3 or high, provable passion for Web3
  • Web3 product strategy experience
  • Large social following, especially on Twitter and LinkedIn, or offset by an existing network of possible leads for our client
  • Power user of Web3 products
