Blockchain Engineer, New York (Hybrid), $200k–$250k base, Smart Contracts

A high-impact opportunity for an experienced Blockchain Engineer to join a fast-moving startup working at the forefront of decentralized finance. This role offers the chance to shape and build core infrastructure that enables new financial primitives, making complex trading mechanisms accessible and intuitive for users. You’ll be part of a small, agile team focused on rapid iteration and robust performance — designing smart contracts and backend systems from the ground up.

What You'll Do:

• Design and implement smart contracts that support novel DeFi market structures (e.g., perpetuals, options, CLOBs)
• Build secure, scalable backend systems that power live trading protocols
• Take ownership of end-to-end features and collaborate closely across product and engineering
• Deliver production-grade code in fast development cycles

Must-Have Experience:

• Proven experience shipping DeFi smart contracts in live protocols with active users
• 4+ years backend engineering experience (Rust/Java preferred, open to modern server-side languages)
• Strong understanding of scalable and secure system design

Nice to Haves:

• Deep familiarity with smart contract best practices and DeFi security standards
• Strong system design abilities, both high-level and low-level
• Experience with concurrent/parallel systems and optimization
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS)
• API design experience for production environments
• Contributions to open-source crypto projects
