Vibrant storytellers and Chainalysis evangelists, our marketing team produces cutting-edge research to tell the story of what is happening on-chain. We’re the connectors and facilitators for key-players in the cryptocurrency industry. The Digital Asset Research Analyst plays an active role in this wider work.

Digital Asset Research Analysts are really good at turning raw data into interesting, actionable insights. As a Digital Asset Research Analyst, you’ll be working closely with the Head of Research and other teams at Chainalysis to provide meaningful and timely insights and field data requests. A routine day for the Digital Asset Research Analyst could involve querying data on cryptocurrency transfers for the media or parsing smart contract data to support the wider research team. Independent research is not immediately expected of the Digital Asset Research Analyst. Initially, the Digital Asset Research Analyst will engage in collaborative research with the wider team.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Be excited about Data! The ideal candidate will possess a genuine enthusiasm for data, leveraging this passion to drive in-depth analysis of digital asset trends, market movements, and on-chain activities. This excitement will fuel their ability to unearth novel insights and contribute to a data-driven understanding of the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

  • Use keen attention to detail. In the complex and rapidly evolving world of digital assets, meticulous attention to detail is paramount. The right candidate will apply this skill to ensure the accuracy of their data collection, analysis, and reporting, identifying subtle patterns or anomalies that could significantly impact research conclusions and recommendations.

  • Draw from fluency in the data science tech stack. The successful candidate will utilize their proficiency in Python or R and SQL to effectively extract, clean, analyze, and visualize vast datasets related to digital assets. This technical fluency will enable them to develop sophisticated models, automate data processes, and conduct rigorous quantitative research.

  • Demonstrable understanding of relational databases: A strong grasp of relational databases will allow the analyst to efficiently query, manage, and integrate diverse data sources relevant to digital assets, such as exchange data, blockchain data, and market indicators. This understanding ensures the integrity and accessibility of the data underpinning their research.

  • Quality advocate: The right candidate will champion data quality and analytical rigor throughout their work. They will proactively implement best practices for data validation, methodology, and peer review, ensuring that all research outputs are robust, reliable, and contribute to the highest standards of accuracy within the team.

  • Exceptional communication and public speaking skills are essential for effectively translating complex digital asset research into impactful narratives for diverse audiences (media, industry, internal) and confidently presenting independent analyses to cross-functional stakeholders while thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

We’re looking for candidates who have:

  • Proven experience with Python or R coding for statistical data and/or data science.

  • Strong experience with SQL for querying large data sets.

  • Supported teams across the company including marketing, global intel, policy, sales, product management, communications and investigations by querying data and contextualizing the results.

  • Developed new fundamental insights into how to work with cryptocurrency, smart contract, and other related data.

  • Become a master of our rich datasets allowing visibility into our data.

  • Investigated and designed new innovative metrics for accountability and transparency.

  • Have successfully balanced ad-hoc requests in addition to ongoing projects and can quantify the impact of your work.

Nice to have experience:

  • Curious about cryptocurrencies or a desire to learn - we can help! A natural curiosity about cryptocurrencies, coupled with an eagerness to continuously learn, is essential. This curiosity will drive the analyst to explore emerging trends, novel protocols, and regulatory developments, ensuring their research remains at the forefront of the digital asset space.
