Role Overview: As the CTO, you will oversee the company’s entire technology function, managing a team of up to 200 professionals across engineering, data, AI, product, design, and quantitative research. You’ll lead the development of the technology vision, strategy, and execution to maintain the exchange’s leadership in scalability, security, and innovation.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will collaborate closely with the C-suite, board members, and key stakeholders to align technology with business goals. This is a unique opportunity to build cutting-edge financial infrastructure and support the next generation of crypto traders, institutions, and DeFi applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Technology Leadership & Strategy

• Define and execute the technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.
• Drive scalability, security, and performance across the exchange, optimizing it for high-frequency, low-latency trading.
• Lead blockchain innovation, integrating technologies such as Layer 2 scaling, cross-chain interoperability, and zero-knowledge proofs.
• Manage strategic decisions on cloud infrastructure, decentralization, and core exchange technology.

Managing & Scaling a World-Class Team

• Lead a multidisciplinary technology team across engineering, data science, AI, product design, and quantitative research.
• Foster a high-performance, innovative culture while attracting and retaining top-tier talent.
• Scale the team and the organization, developing structured hiring, training, and leadership development plans.

Software Engineering & Development

• Oversee the development and optimization of trading engines, liquidity management, and API architecture.
• Ensure ultra-low-latency matching engine performance and a seamless trading experience.
• Lead the integration of AI-driven decision-making in risk management and automated trading strategies.

Security, Compliance & Infrastructure

• Uphold the highest security standards to protect user funds and data, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
• Drive cryptographic security enhancements, including hardware security modules (HSMs), MPC, and institutional-grade custody solutions.
• Oversee AI-powered threat detection, fraud monitoring, and AML compliance systems.

Quantitative Research & Trading Technology

• Build and optimize high-frequency trading infrastructure, maximizing execution efficiency and liquidity.
• Collaborate with quantitative researchers to implement advanced trading strategies and risk hedging models.
• Lead the development of real-time risk monitoring systems.

Scaling & Growth

• Lead technical due diligence for strategic acquisitions and partnerships.
• Optimize technical infrastructure costs while ensuring top-tier performance.
• Drive seamless onboarding of millions of new users while maintaining low-latency, high-performance trading.

Experience & Background:

• Proven CTO or VP of Engineering experience at a leading crypto exchange, DeFi protocol, or high-frequency trading firm.
• Deep expertise in blockchain technology, low-latency trading systems, and security architecture.
• Experience scaling teams from 100+ to 500+ people in high-growth fintech or crypto environments.
• Strong knowledge of DeFi, Layer 1 & Layer 2 protocols, and decentralized trading architectures.
• Familiarity with U.S. regulatory frameworks (SEC, CFTC, FinCEN, etc.) impacting crypto exchanges.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in Rust, C++, Golang, or Solidity for blockchain development.
• Hands-on experience with high-frequency trading systems, ultra-low latency platforms, and algorithmic trading.
• Strong knowledge of Ethereum, Solana, Bitcoin, ZK-rollups, and other Layer 1/2 solutions.
• Expertise with AWS, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, and containerized environments.
• Advanced skills in cryptography, MPC, HSMs, and other cryptographic protocols.
• Familiarity with machine learning applications for fraud detection and risk analytics.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Base Salary: $400,000+
