Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is a decentralized, permissionless naming system built on the Ethereum blockchain that enables human-readable names (like "myname.eth") to be linked to standard Ethereum addresses and other distributed systems.

As one of the first protocols built on Ethereum, ENS has enabled over 3 million registered .eth names, and over another 20 million ENS names from teams such as Coinbase, Uniswap, and Linea, as well as integrations with hundreds of other apps, wallets, protocols, and browsers in the crypto ecosystem.

ENS Labs has been driving the core development of the ENS protocol since 2018. We created the ENS app, open-source libraries, and core smart contracts. We are on a mission to make crypto-powered experiences as easy and accessible as browsing the web. Join us as we build the next iteration of our protocol, ENSv2, and pioneer a more decentralized, flexible, and scalable ENS for the future.

About the Role

As a Smart Contract Engineer at ENS, you will work directly with the engineering team to design, implement, and maintain smart contracts that power the ENS ecosystem. You’ll be responsible for writing secure, efficient, and scalable smart contracts, integrating them with the ENS system, and ensuring they meet the needs of both developers and end users. You’ll also be involved in creating new smart contract features, improving existing contracts, and participating in governance and upgrades to the ENS protocol.

The ideal candidate is a skilled smart contract developer with a deep understanding of Ethereum, Solidity, and decentralized applications (dApps), and someone who is passionate about creating secure, performant, and well-architected blockchain solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and deploy smart contracts that power ENS features.

  • Write high-quality, secure, and efficient code for smart contracts.

  • Contribute to the evolution of the ENS protocol, suggesting new features, enhancements, and improvements based on community and internal feedback.

  • Optimize smart contracts for lower gas fees, enhanced performance, and increased scalability.

Who You Are

  • 3+ years of experience in developing smart contracts on Ethereum or other EVM-compatible blockchains.

  • Interested and passionate about contributing to the crypto ecosystem

  • Proficient in Solidity and other related tools and libraries (e.g., Hardhat, Truffle, Remix, OpenZeppelin).

  • Experienced with decentralized applications (dApps), Ethereum’s ERC standards (e.g., ERC-20, ERC-721, ERC-1155), and the general Ethereum ecosystem.

  • Strong understanding of gas optimization, security best practices, and common vulnerabilities (e.g., reentrancy, front-running, integer overflow/underflow).

  • Strong ability to write clear, maintainable, and testable code.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop efficient, scalable solutions.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

It’s a Plus, if You Have

  • Experience with ENS or other decentralized identity protocols.

  • Familiarity with layer 2 scaling solutions, sidechains, or other blockchain interoperability technologies.

  • Experience with Web3.js, Ethers.js, or other JavaScript libraries used to interact with Ethereum.

  • Contributions to open-source projects or a strong GitHub presence demonstrating your work in blockchain development.

How much does Remote Solidity pay?

The salary for a remote Solidity developer can vary widely depending on factors such as experience, skills, location, and the specific company or project

However, in general, Solidity developers are in high demand in the blockchain industry, and their salaries tend to be competitive

The average salary for a Solidity developer in the United States is around $120,000 to $150,000 per year, depending on experience and location

However, it's important to note that these numbers are averages and can vary widely based on the individual circumstances of the job

In addition to base salary, remote Solidity developers may also receive additional benefits such as flexible work schedules, the ability to work from anywhere in the world, and equity or tokens in the blockchain projects they are working on.
