Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square & Cash App. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.

Job Description

Afterpay is looking for high-energy, motivated professionals with sound business insight and natural sales instincts to join, and help build, our Sales Development organization. You will lay the foundation of this sales effort through outbounding to prospective sellers and promoting the value of Afterpay for their business. As a Business Development Representative, you will work with our Sales team to find new merchants that fit the Afterpay ecosystem.

As the first line of contact, you understand the diverse needs of our merchants. You will become an expert in the products and services that enables merchants to grow with the Afterpay ecosystem. You will use your convincing personality and passion for winning to improve the standard of success, documenting and tracking qualified opportunities to pass onto the Account Executive team. You will use a data-driven approach to outbound sales that incorporates prospecting, email communication, and calling at scale.

You will:

  • Manage a diverse pipeline of businesses and prioritize outreach to accelerate our sales cycles
  • Reach out to businesses at scale in your pipeline through cold calling, emailing and social selling
  • Manage an urgent and solutions-based sales approach, identify challenges with businesses, and provide targeted value around how Afterpay can help
  • Grow your career in sales through frequent developmental opportunities and mentorship from the Account Executive team
  • Consistently attain and exceed your monthly quotas


Qualifications

  • 1+ years of previous experience
  • A desire to grow your career in sales
  • A BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Team player with an ownership mindset
  • Leads with authenticity & empathy
  • Curious, self-aware and coachable
  • Enthusiasm for developing sales skills through cold calling
  • Comfort with operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Residence within 50 miles of the posted office location


Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on the candidate's work location and may be may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $30.40

Zone B: USD $28.28

Zone C: USD $26.76

Zone D: USD $24.30
