Web3 Senior Communications Manager

Purpose of the Role:

As part of our expanding communications team, we are seeking an experienced, driven, and highly independent professional to help manage and develop the communications and corporate reputation of BitMEX.

The Senior Communications Manager, Corporate Reputation role, remotely based in Western Europe (excluding UK), is a great opportunity for someone who wants to shape the future of one of the most innovative and recognised brands in crypto.

This position requires impeccable judgement and attention to detail. We are looking for someone who is a creative thinker, skillful writer, and experienced in media relations/pitching. We will count on you to play a big role in corporate reputation development, and to be a steady hand when we need to communicate about various issues and crises (including when under pressure).

You’ll work with, and have the support of, a growing communications and marketing team, mostly based in Asian time zones. Working alongside the Head of Comms and Director of Comms, as well as with a PR agency, you will help design external and internal communications campaigns, write company communications, and liaise with our legal, compliance, product, and tech teams in the process.

A successful candidate will be a smart, resourceful individual who brings energy and passion to their role, with a proven track record in communications and issues/ crisis management from an agency (at around Associate Director-level), major financial services firm, or tech company. We’re looking for a team player who can forge productive relationships with those they interact with - whether as colleagues or when representing BitMEX to the outside world.

Key Scope and Responsibilities:

• Company Profile: work with the Head of Comms/ Director of Comms to oversee and manage company communications, both internal and external, in order to develop and build company profile.
• Proactive Campaign Development: support the development and delivery of proactive corporate reputation campaigns.
• Content Development: work with the editorial team to develop and publish company content across owned channels.
• External Stakeholder Engagement: help to coordinate interaction with key journalists and other critical stakeholders internationally.
• Help manage activation of strategic partnerships, including AC Milan.
• Company appearances at industry events - be the main point of contact in Europe to identify and manage our participation in events (i.e. helping to evaluate a potential CEO appearance on a panel discussion, for example)
• Interact and assist in management of external agency teams.
• Assist with internal communication.
• Support on issues management.

Key Requirements, Capabilities and Skillsets:

• 7+ years PR and communications handling experience, gained within an in-house or agency environment.
• Meaningful experience managing reputational risks/ dealing with issues and crises.
• Financial services, cryptocurrency, or technology industry experience necessary.
• Meaningful international media relations expertise required.
• Multi-stakeholder reputation campaigning, encompassing strategy development, creative execution, and flawless delivery.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills, with English language essential.
• Collaborative mindset to work in an international and multidisciplinary environment as part of one global team.
• Team management and coaching skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
• Impeccable judgment with ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
• Excellent attention to detail is an absolute must.
