Since 2014, the mission-driven team at the Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) has helped fuel the tremendous growth of the Stellar blockchain network, an open-source platform that operates at high-scale today. Developers and companies around the world build on it, and the SDF team is expanding to support the rapidly growing and changing Stellar ecosystem.
We are looking for a commercial and product counsel to help us scale Vibrant, a consumer-facing mobile crypto wallet. Vibrant launched in Latin America and is now expanding internationally and adding a suite of exciting new features. Vibrant is offered by Sunship, Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of SDF. In this role, you will be the principal legal counsel for Vibrant and work closely with the SDF legal team. You will manage all day-to-day legal issues relating to Vibrant including marketing, data protection, regulatory issues, contracts, product compliance, and new market entry.
This is an exciting opportunity to support an innovative mobile crypto wallet on top of a well-established layer one blockchain and work on some of the most exciting and innovative legal issues in blockchain, digital assets, and global payments.
In this role, you will:
- Work closely with our engineering, product management, marketing, BD, and customer support teams
- Provide legal input on new wallet functionalities, feature launches, and 3rd party partner integrations advising at each step of the product development lifecycle
- Conduct new market entry clearance for international launches
- Work with our in-house policy team to monitor regulatory developments in the US and our international markets
- Manage all contractual needs including partner and BD deals, sponsorships, marketing & SAAS
- Draft terms of use, privacy policies, and online disclosures
- Review all user flow design and copy, marketing material, and user communications
- Advise on issues relating to consumer protection, data protection, money transmission, cross border payments, BSA and sanctions obligations, and crypto-specific laws, regulations, and guidance
- Develop operational processes and tools for contract management, product counseling, and data processing compliance
- Work with our outside counsel where necessary for SME or international support
You have:
- Between 3 - 5 years of relevant law firm and/or in-house experience, preferably focusing on tech, fintech, or financial services
- Spanish fluency (at a level to review marketing copy but not necessarily contracts)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex compliance and regulatory issues in a clear and concise manner
- Practical risk assessment skills and the ability to work with product to find mitigation options and provide results-oriented legal guidance
- Ability to understand complex technical and financial systems and how they interact with the law
- Organized and able to prioritize (and re-prioritize) in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Excellent EQ and interpersonal skills
- A J.D. and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- And most importantly…. a sense of humor!

- We would love to find someone who has experience advising on crypto law, but as long as you have some familiarity with blockchain, we can help get you up to speed on the law.
