What We Do:

We enable the financial engine that powers Uphold. We consume market data for a wide range of asset classes including cryptocurrencies, equities, metals, and foreign exchange, with more to come. Using this data, we generate asset pricing for the Uphold consumer platform. Our team is responsible for the risk management and balancing of the Uphold reserve.

How We Do It:

We use a variety of technologies to build our own applications that run on both our own hardware and in the cloud.  C++ for areas that require high performance, Go and Python as needed for general solutions, and NodeJS when required for specific integrations.  In addition, we utilize (My|Postgre)SQL, redis, bash, linux, etc. Generally, we try to use whatever tool is best for the job, without letting the stack grow too complicated.

We own our technology from end to end, hardware and software, with the support of the Uphold technology organization at large.  As a geographically distributed team, our process is highly collaborative. Most of the hard thinking is done before any code has been written.

As our Senior Network Engineer - trading infrastructure, you’ll collaborate with multiple infrastructure and technical departments to empower the secure, robust operation of our self-managed systems.

Requirements:

• Significant professional experience managing and securing offsite *nix based environments
• Proven hands-on network engineering experience (routing, switching, firewalls)
• Experience troubleshooting remotely and working with on-site staff (smart hands) 
• Knowledge of cloud platforms
• Focus on automation using cron, scripting, etc..
• Effective communication skills; a positive, team player
• Experience using Git in production environments
• Comfort working in an agile, fast-moving, iterative software development process
• Ability to be highly effective in remote-first environment

Nice to haves:

• Experience with trading systems running in colocation environments
• Blockchain and cryptocurrencies knowledge/experience
• MySQL or Postgres
• Makefiles
