Web3 General Manager

Compensation: $120k - $150k

The Vision 

The “metaverse” is best defined as a network of meaningful worlds, objects, identities and experiences that build on each other and the real world in ways that create economic value or provide fulfilling experiences. This network will unleash innovative businesses offering sophisticated digital assets, creating new jobs and expanding human opportunity. 

 

However, all this potential remains largely unrealized due to technical, experiential, and accessibility challenges. In addition, the absence of a functioning technological and economic system that allows builders and creators to support one another's work means we are stuck with either very open and decentralized but non-functional metaverse frameworks that major companies can’t use or popular but fundamentally closed UGC gaming platforms with limited freedom to build major businesses on top of them. A fully realized practical metaverse ecosystem is a network of many actors, all with their own needs and interests, all of whom have to be able to credibly build real businesses. 

 

Your Mission 

We are seeking a General Manager with an operational background and a passion for the rapidly evolving Web3 space. This individual will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimising the commercial and operational aspects of the foundation and building a business from the ground up. The ideal candidate will possess not only the operational acumen but also an entrepreneurial spirit, enabling them to navigate the fast-evolving landscape of Web3 with agility and vision. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Operational Excellence: Lead efforts to establish the structure needed for oversight of development, and later optimisation, of operational policies and processes for all centralized functions of the Foundation.
    • Participate in the selection and onboarding of vendors and service providers, ensuring they meet the foundation's operational requirements.
    • Improve efficiency and drive cost-effective practices across the Foundation.
    • Effectively manage and communicate with direct resources and outsource partners, responsible for finance, marketing, engineering, human resources, operations and community, ensuring quality and timeliness.

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the directors of the Foundation to formulate and execute strategic plans, ensuring alignment with mission and vision.
    • Prepare and report to the board of directors on a regular basis on key performance indicators.
    • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships and collaborations with key stakeholders in the Web3 space, including blockchain projects, academia, and industry players.
    • Conduct regular market and competitive analysis to identify emerging opportunities, threats, and trends in the Web3 landscape.

  • Risk Management & Compliance: identify and mitigate financial and operational risks, providing proactive solutions to challenges.
    • Ensure that the foundation complies with all legal and regulatory requirements by staying informed about the evolving regulatory landscape and develop compliance strategies to navigate legal and regulatory risks associated.

  • Project Management: Implement and oversee project management methodologies to ensure the successful execution of initiatives aligned with the Foundation's goals.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project objectives, scope, and requirements, ensuring alignment with overall strategic goals.
    • Develop and maintain project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, coordinating with various teams and departments to ensure timely project completion.

 


  • Financial Management & Viability: Collaborate with the finance team to create and manage the budget in alignment with the strategic plan.
    • Identify and drive opportunities in the Web3 space by establishing and maintaining partnerships.
    • Regularly assess the Foundation's competitive positioning in the market, identify opportunities for growth, and formulate strategies to capture market share.

  • People Management: Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. 

Qualifications:
 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in professional services or Web3/blockchain
  • Demonstrable experience in operational management, preferably in the tech or blockchain industry. 
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, able to identify and act on new opportunities with minimal direction.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • ACCA, CPA or equivalent accounting qualification is a bonus but not required.

Role Location

To apply for this role, you must be currently a resident of the Cayman Islands or willing to become a resident there. This is where the foundation HQ is based. The company itself is a remote-first business, so you will have the flexibility to work in other locations throughout the globe for short periods of time.


Reporting Lines

This role will report directly to the board of directors of the foundation.
