Ripple is seeking a highly engaged attorney with a passion for all things employment and litigation to join our legal organization. Reporting to our Vice President, Litigation this attorney will split time between employment counseling and general litigation. In this role, you will work in close collaboration with teams throughout the company to support a fast-growing global business. As an integral part of our small but agile Legal Team, you will work on some of the most exciting legal and business issues in fintech today.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Provide legal counsel and guidance concerning employment-related issues globally
  • Advise on a broad range of employment law matters, including recruiting, employee relations, inclusion & diversity, compensation & benefits, immigration and workplace investigations
  • In partnership with the People team, assess and effectively communicate to business leaders the employment law implications associated with actions and initiatives involving or related to Ripple employees and contingent workers
  • Partner with our People and Recruiting teams to develop forward-looking policies and trainings to ensure that Ripple continues to be a best place to work
  • Draft and review employment agreements and policies
  • Help develop and conduct training and education programs for employees, managers, and the People team
  • Develop and maintain appropriate policies, procedures and guidelines related to employment law matters, and review employment-related legal issues associated with Ripples policies, procedures, and guidelines as applicable
  • Contribute employment related expertise to Ripples M&A initiatives
  • Proactively manage all aspects of litigation, including discovery, motion practice and witness preparation
  • Work closely and collaboratively with internal business partners to provide strategic and proactive legal advice on litigation and regulatory issues
  • Manage external advisors engaged to support projects

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • J.D. from a top-tier law school
  • 10+ years practicing law at a leading law firm, in-house experience is a plus
  • Strong employment counseling experience across a wide range of employment law issues including recruitment, background checks/screening, hiring, leaves of absence, termination, compensation, health and welfare benefits, contingent workforce management, diversity and inclusion, discrimination, immigration sponsorship and employment-related contracts
  • Strong litigation experience through all stages of litigation
  • Excellent problem solving skills, judgment, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines and act decisively
  • Ability to present complex issues in a clear and concise manner and provide succinct, practical and results-oriented legal advice
  • Organized, detail-oriented, resourceful and flexible
