About The Role
dYdX Foundation is seeking a dynamic Head of Finance to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of DeFi. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our financial strategy, oversee global accounting and tax matters, and ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions. You will manage our treasury operations, including crypto assets, cash management, and diversification strategies while supporting global payment workflows. As the main finance contact, you will build and maintain relationships with key financial partners and external advisors. Your expertise will drive our financial planning, investments, and reporting, ensuring robust internal controls. What You’ll be Doing
- Accounting and Tax:
- Oversee accounting and tax matters, including Swiss and international filings, annual audits, and ad-hoc tax requirements.
- Ensure compliance with financial and accounting standards in relevant jurisdictions.
- Treasury and Asset Management:
- Implement robust treasury management practices, including cash management, staking strategies, and prudent diversification tactics such as options strategies.
- Manage investments, asset management, and financial planning processes for fiat and token balance sheets.
- Operational Finance Support:
- Streamline banking and custodial relationships.
- Support global payment workflows and intercompany funding.
- Develop and manage internal controls to safeguard assets.
- Understand and manage financial aspects unique to on-chain activities.
- Track and ensure the receipt or delivery of all investments, payments, ecosystem grants, and team-member grants.
- Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Manage the preparation and presentation of financial reports and statements.
- Support budgeting and expense tracking processes for cross-functional teams.
- Design and execute a plan to scale the Foundation’s financial operations.
- External Relations:
- Serve as the main finance point of contact for external parties, including banks, custodians, trading desks, accountants, auditors, and tax advisors.
- Establish and maintain accounts with key financial service providers.
What We’re Looking for
Must-have
- Located in Switzerland, Europe or Dubai.
- 5+ years of finance experience, ideally in both crypto and traditional finance.
- Deep knowledge of crypto assets, DeFi, staking, and custody solutions.
- Proven ability to build relationships with banking, tax, and audit partners.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax law, and financial regulations.
- Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams.
- Excellent communicator, able to explain complex financial topics.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Experience working remotely and independently with a global team.
- Familiarity with Swiss local GAAP accounting standards and crypto-specific rules.
- Proficient in blockchain technology and its financial applications.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive with a drive to work through hard problems and set priorities.
- Passionate about dYdX's mission and the potential of decentralized finance.
