THE POSITION

As Director of Marketing at CoinDesk, you will be responsible for continuing to build and scale both our world-renowned events / conference business as well as the leading cryptocurrency and blockchain financial media platform, CoinDesk.com. You will market all of CoinDesk’s content, media products, features, and properties including the website, mobile app (coming soon), podcasts, TV/video streaming, etc.

You are intimately familiar with ways to drive growth and attract new users as well as drive engagement and loyalty, user segmentation and market research / audience data, and how to do multi-channel marketing across owned, earned and paid channels via email, paid, and on-site marketing.

You are comfortable with everything from planning and negotiating digital marketing media deals to working with internal design and product teams, to managing external partners, influencers, vendors and agencies.You have a deep understanding of event / conference marketing and the cadence required to drive attendees, capitalize quickly on marketing partnerships, and develop full marketing plans for product launches and events.

As a key leader on the marketing team, you will help ensure we communicate clearly and in the right tone to both crypto experts and novices, a mainstream audience, and to financial professionals, and you can balance marketing to a B2C mainstream audience, as well as to the B2B segments within the professional investor / institutional investor audience.

We’re eager to meet someone with passion and preferably strong understanding and knowledge of the emerging and constantly changing cryptocurrency, blockchain and decentralized finance markets and their impact on transforming industries and the economy.

As we build out CoinDesk streaming content with our digital TV channel of news and show series, expand our podcast offerings, become the leading crypto index provider, and continue to put on the most influential events in the industry, you will collaborate closely with a growing marketing team that will include experts in design, email/ CRM, global communications, indexes and content marketing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner and collaborate closely across the marketing and design team, events content and events operations teams, product and engineering teams, editorial teams, social media team, data analytics, and outside vendors and agencies to plan and execute marketing campaigns to support business growth.
  • Lead and inspire: lead marketing on key projects, and act as guardian of brand voice and >
  • Deliver ambitious attendee goals for Consensus, the most influential event conference the crypto/ blockchain industry, and all other CoinDesk events such as webinars and highly targeted financial professional conferences. Includes developing event forecast registration pricing models based on audience segments
  • Deliver on ways to amplify the CoinDesk brand and drive traffic, usage and engagement to the CoinDesk media platform and all the brand’s related products
  • Act as the glue to bring the marketing team and key players across the entire organization together on projects to connect the dots in order to coordinate efforts for launches and events
  • Comfortable with a variety of martech and data platforms, email marketing platforms, and how to leverage them to optimize efforts and help marketing drive business and build our global audience.
  • Analyze and present results of marketing efforts and performance metrics on a regular basis to marketing and then to the organization, with learnings and next steps for optimizing in future.
  • Understand the target audience and audience data to find the best ways to reach them to achieve growth and engagement goals

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years B2C marketing experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Events/ conference business experience, media industry experience, global experience are a PLUS
  • PREFERRED: Solid knowledge of crypto and blockchain industry and cryptocurrency trends, whether have worked in the industry or not.
  • Excellent presentation skills and influencing skills
  • Facile in producing decks (Google Slides), excellent, written and verbal skills.
  • Data-driven mindset to driving business, with a strong understanding of brand strategy.
  • Bottom line focused - and can deliver and execute on big “out of the box” ideas that drive revenues but also focus and deliver on the details required for excellence in execution
  • Team player with a positive, can-do attitude with strong respect for all teammates
  • BS/BA degree
