The engineering team at Chainalysis is inspired by solving the hardest technical challenges and creating products that build trust in cryptocurrencies. We’re a global organization with teams in Denmark, UK, Canada, the USA who thrive on the challenging work we do and doing it with other exceptionally talented teammates. Our industry changes every day and our job is to create user facing products supported by a flexible and scalable data platform allowing us to adapt to those rapid changes and bring value to our customers.

We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Blockchain Foundations team. The Blockchain Foundations group is responsible for ingesting cryptocurrency blockchain data. You’ll be building, designing, and developing large-scale data pipelines that ingest the world’s cryptocurrency data. These pipelines are critical to the company as they provide much of the foundational data on which all of Chainalysis’ products and services are built.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Develop scalable, reliable, efficient and performant data systems for ingesting and parsing cryptocurrency blockchain data.

  • Build scalable API services on AWS that handle 1,000’s requests per second

  • Debug production issues and participating in a blameless post-mortem process to make our systems stronger

  • Collaborate with peers in the team and across teams

  • Support production services including debugging and maintenance

We’re looking for candidates who have:

  • You’ve led or played an instrumental role in designing and implementing cloud-native microservices-based distributed systems in a major cloud provider like AWS or GCP

  • Experience mentoring other engineers, leading cross-team projects, and driving design and technology decisions

  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages. We mostly use Typescript and Java but prior experience isn’t necessary.

  • Strong technical background with 8+ years of experience working directly on backend systems/ projects

  • A bias to ship and iterate alongside product management and design partners

  • Exposure to or interest in development of data pipelines

Technologies we use (experience not required):

  • AWS (S3, Lambdas, DynamoDB)

  • Kafka

  • PostgreSQL (AWS RDS)

  • Typescript

  • Java

  • Kubernetes

  • Github / Github Actions

  • Databricks (Spark)
