Photo Editor
CoinDesk, the leading digital media company in the rapidly growing world of digital assets, is seeking a skilled and experienced Photo Editor to work alongside the Editorial and Multimedia teams. The primary mission of the Photo Editor is to level-up the look and feel of coindesk.com through the use of imagery.
The Photo Editor will establish and enforce guidelines for image use, create processes for image requests, and serve as the primary liaison with the image sources, whether they’re services or photographers. The Photo Editor will take ownership of CoinDesk’s image library, one of the best repositories for photography of important figures in crypto, building upon it as we cover spot news and in-person events. The Photo Editor will work closely with our Product and Engineering teams to ensure our CMS and image-related tools are first-rate and maintain best industry practices.
The ideal candidate will have topnotch photo-editing and photography skills, experience managing imagery for a news or media site, experience working with paid and free image services, familiarity with photo licensing agreements, and expertise in the best practices for image SEO. Working across teams is an essential part of the job, so good communication skills are a must. Knowledge of the cryptocurrency industry and general finance is preferred but not required.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Photo editing.
- Handling photo requests from the Content team.
- Standardizing and enforcing guidelines for writing captions and credits.
- Training team members on photo processes and maintaining reference documentation.
- Liaising with photo services (e.g. Getty, Shutterstock, etc.) on licensing and administering those accounts (e.g. adding new users, monitoring downloads, etc.).
- Maintaining and improving the CoinDesk image library.
ABOUT YOU
- 3+ years experience working at a digital news organization.
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or other photo editing software.
- Experience maintaining a photo library.
- Experience working with and navigating a content management system.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote environment with a geographically distributed team.
