You will report directly to the General Counsel and lead the product counseling function at OpenSea. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player that is passionate about blockchain technology and happiest in a fast-paced, action-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide nimble, practical advice to product, engineering, and operations teams shipping innovative new features, products, and programs
- Work closely with product, comms, and marketing teams on external facing communications regarding our products and initiatives
- Develop and ship reusable frameworks for product counseling
- Keep abreast of quickly evolving legal and regulatory landscape to forecast and head off potential challenges
- Serve as legal POC for platform liability issues - including DMCA, trademark, publicity rights, and other third party content issues
- Serve as legal POC for privacy counseling and compliance
- 10+ years of legal experience
- Extensive experience counseling non-lawyer clients at high-growth consumer technology company or in the crypto/blockchain industry
- Track record of collaborative partnership with lawyers and non-lawyers to solve problems without clear solutions and get things done
- Expertise in blockchain, NFT, marketplace, or platform liability issues
- Meaningful regulatory and/or litigation experience
- Juris doctor from accredited law school
- Member of a US state bar in good standing
- Experience working in a startup environment
The base salary for this full-time position, which spans across multiple internal levels depending on qualifications, ranges between $270,000 - $330,000 plus benefits & equity.
