DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Software Engineering is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and passionate individual to join the team at Foundry, a subsidiary of the blockchain industry’s most prolific and active investor, Digital Currency Group. Reporting to the CTO, the Director of Software Engineering, along with their team, will be focused on building a world-class website for the Foundry’s mining and staking operations.

This is a rare invitation to join a small, highly professional entrepreneurial group, with the backing of the most established player in the fast-growing crypto space.

This position is based at Foundry HQ in Rochester, NY.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, develop, mentor, and engage staff, including interns, to meet department strategic resource needs in an agile work environment.
  • Lead, manage, architect, develop and maintain the infrastructure and applications of the DCG Foundry mining operations.
  • Collaborate with Foundry’s team members to design, develop, and deploy production ready software.
  • Has strong working knowledge of agile development principles. Helps to remove roadblocks that agile teams are unable to solve by themselves.
  • Make key architecture and development decisions in large scale distributed systems.
  • Ensure system security to protect sensitive information and resources.
  • Write documentation on how to maintain and troubleshoot the system.
  • Work closely with product owners, project managers, other development teams, DevOps and infrastructure teams.
  • Develop UX/UI that supports Foundry’s internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build high-performing and scalable frontend solutions.

ABOUT YOU:

Minimum Qualifications; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years hiring, building, and developing a team within a startup environment.
  • 8+ years professional experience in software engineering, software architecture, focused on frontend and backend development.
  • Passionate about technology and interested in Bitcoin, blockchain, and tech entrepreneurship.
  • Strong understanding of web services, API, databases, I18N, Kafka, and data analysis & reporting.
  • Interest in researching topics related to digital assets and mining.
  • Have a working knowledge of databases and monitoring and alerting systems.
  • Self-starter, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Bitcoin mining and/or interest to learn development.
