SOX Compliance Specialist Remote

Position Summary

Reporting to the Group CFO, this role will be responsible for building up from scratch - company’s global compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and for the establishment of a financial control environment fit for a company to be publicly listed in the USA. The successful candidate should have a proven experience with financial reporting and SOX requirements and methodologies (risk assessment, controls design, testing strategies, testing monitoring and reporting, etc.) and must have knowledge of process flow mapping, design and documentation of controls.

The candidate should also be familiar with modern internal audit practices, both applied to financial and enterprise processes, and have actively participated in and contribute to Audit Committees in listed companies.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop clear, concise controls processes and documentation (Risk Control Matrix, process flowcharts, controls testing procedures) from scratch and drive SOX compliance activities in order to mitigate risks and achieve public listed company's compliance.
  • Assess and ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of controls process and its continuous improvement using proper operational metrics; proactively recommend changes where appropriate, engage with management team to execute, and monitor progress and completion.
  • Work with IT to ensure the Group's IT control framework meets SOX compliance requirements
  • Serve as a liaison between key stakeholders (e.g. senior management, finance teams and external auditors) in the areas of risk assessment, management, control environment and compliance.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including tracking and communicating progress of projects while adhering to deadlines
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in technical aspects.
  • Embedding a culture of good compliance practice at all levels of the organisation, from top to bottom.
  • Act in a manner consistent with Bitfury’s core values and according to Bitfury’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethical Behaviour.
  • Assists in ad hoc and special projects.

Qualifications

  • Recognised professional certification i.e. ACA/ACCA/CPA/CIA certification (or equivalent) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a public company.
  • Deep working knowledge of IFRS and SOX.
  • Strong knowledge of COSO, IIA and PCAOB Auditing Standards risk and controls standards and business process best practices.
  • Experience developing test plans, executing testing and concluding on the operating effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Experience developing SOX frameworks from scratch, flowcharting business processes, preparing risk and control matrices and writing process narratives
  • Familiar with modern internal audit practices & procedures, both applied to financial and enterprise processes, and have actively participated in and contribute to Audit Committees in listed companies; related experience entails also outsourcing of related activities.
  • Must have strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written) with strong interpersonal skills and a strong customer service focus.
  • Desirable: Exposure to NetSuite Financials and/or other ERP systems.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture.
  • Self-starter that can be hands-on and work independently and as a part of a greater team.
  • Multicultural approach, comfortable working with diverse cultures and mind-sets.
  • Appreciation to work in a global organisation with employees in different time zones/regions.
  • Flexibility; the need to be comfortable with ambiguity as the business grows and evolves; speed of execution and prioritized & pragmatic approach are essential.
