About the job

This team operates at the intersection of distributed systems and GPU infrastructure, powering compute-intensive workloads at scale. We're looking for a Staff Node.js Engineer to take ownership of backend architecture across services that orchestrate GPU resources, manage infrastructural workflows, and expose them through robust, high-performance APIs.

This is a senior technical role with meaningful architectural scope. You'll drive system design decisions, lead complex backend initiatives, and partner with leadership to shape the long-term technical direction of the platform. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, has strong opinions backed by production experience, and is comfortable operating close to the metal when GPU and infrastructure workloads demand it.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement scalable backend services in Node.js that form the core of this team platform.

• Lead system design for complex, distributed backend initiatives - from requirements through production rollout.

• Own technical decisions around performance, reliability, and scalability of services interacting with GPU management and low-level infrastructure.

• Collaborate closely with infrastructure, platform, and product teams to align backend architecture with business needs.

• Establish and uphold engineering standards: code quality, testing, observability, and documentation.

• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers; contribute to technical hiring and team growth.

• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, scaling limitations, and architectural debt.

• 7+ years of professional backend engineering experience, with deep expertise in Node.js.

• Proven track record of architecting and scaling distributed backend systems in production.

• Strong system design skills: microservices, API design, data modeling, async patterns, event-driven architectures.

• Experience with relational and non-relational databases, message queues, and caching layers.

• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).

• Based in a timezone with 4–6 hours of overlap with IST working hours (10am–7pm IST).

Preferred (Bonus)

• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, gRPC, custom protocols, performance tuning.

• Virtualization / containerization experience (Docker, Kubernetes, VMs, hypervisors).

• Exposure to GPU infrastructure, GPU scheduling, or compute orchestration systems.

• Experience operating backend systems in infrastructure-heavy or hardware-adjacent domains.

• Prior work in fintech, crypto, or blockchain environments.
