Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Crypto Coins & Stocks Reporter to produce fresh, innovative content around cryptocurrency markets and stock-exchange-listed crypto-focused companies. Working alongside our analysts and editors, you will generate news articles in English about Bitcoin, major altcoins and other tokens, focusing on explaining why assets are moving and breaking news that has market impact. You will also follow equities of crypto exchange operators, Bitcoin miners and other firms in the crypto space.
You will deliver articles daily that follow and explain major market movements, working independently or with other members of the growing markets team. Above all, you should aspire to break news, provide insight for market participants and focus will be on quality, originality and market impact versus volume.
You will blend short news briefs with occasional in-depth features that broaden readers’ understanding of the crypto universe and its global context.

Key Responsibilities
Research & Writing
- Produce crypto market reports that unveil what sources are thinking and doing.
- Mine online and physical human sources to obtain intelligence viewpoints and help position Sandmark as the go-to media outlet for sources who want to spread information.
- Map and follow corporate events, earnings of crypto stocks, as well as seeking to break news outside of the normal corporate schedule.
- Actively bridge the gap between digital asset price action and macro catalysts, specifically US Treasury yields, Fed Chairman rhetoric and G7 regulatory shifts.
- Create innovative story ideas and pitch ideas to editors for new ways of reporting that distinguish our information service from the crowd.
- Focus on concise news pieces, while working occasionally on deeper, more insightful long-form articles.
- Verify facts and data through internal resources, leveraging internal analysts’ support for coordinated market research and macroeconomic perspectives.
- Report from events, news scenes.
- Participate in podcast and video commentaries on market developments.
- Conduct interviews with newsmakers, analysts and investment professionals.
- Collaborate closely with editors to refine story angles and maintain a high standard of quality.
- Liaise with the in-house crypto, cross-asset and macro analysts to ensure pieces reflect broader market trends and context.
- Support the Chief Markets Reporter and worth with markets correspondents in the US and Asia.
- Work with photographers and videographers for any multimedia components.
- Offer creative ideas and contribute to related social media content (e.g., snippets, headlines, visuals) to maximize article reach and engagement.
- Produce content in line with related SEO objectives and content analytics to enhance visibility.
- Manage multiple deadlines and adhere to a schedule comprising a combination of breaking news and longer form features.
- Communicate clearly with editors, freelancers and content writers to help ensure an efficient and punctual newsroom.
- Set personal development goals and benefit from working with experienced editorial staff and other functions.
- Liaise with colleagues in other continents to ensure continuous coverage of 24/7 markets.
- Be self-motivated to maintain/exceed high standards of journalism
- Follow the house editorial policy and guidelines.
- Be sensitive to legal and regulatory considerations and follow guidance from editors.
Experience & Expertise
- Experience reporting or writing on cryptocurrency markets and or stocks.
- Track record of breaking news and producing market-moving stories.
- Interest in exploring conventional and unconventional crypto angles.
- A portfolio of writing that demonstrates your ability to blend accurate reporting with engaging, original storytelling.
- Formal degree in Journalism, Economics, Finance, or related fields is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Extensive professional experience may substitute for formal education.
- Outstanding writing skills, adaptable to short-form and long-form contexts.
- Familiarity with/awareness of SEO best practices, basic website CMS experience, and analytics tools.
- Must demonstrate a deep understanding of institutional trading infrastructure (e.g., Talos, FalconX) and the mechanics of tokenized real-world assets (RWA).
- Exceptional organizational skills to juggle simultaneous projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong English-language skills for: reading, summarizing, drafting at fast pace.
- Other languages may strengthen your application, especially if relevant to news gathering from online sources and people active in crypto markets.
- Experience interviewing sources a plus.
- Ability to operate inside ad dynamic newsroom setting, receptive to collaboration and constructive feedback.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, vital for cross-team collaboration with editors and analysts.
- Curiosity and creativity to explore emerging, less-covered topics in the crypto world.
- This is a full-time, hybrid or remote role starting in Q1 2026 and will likely be based in London or New York, depending on the candidate’s ability to develop and maintain sources from the candidate’s preferred location.
- Candidates should be able to cover crypto markets during peak trading hours, especially at 14:00-17:00 UTC and adapt to newsroom shift rotas.
- Proven ability to manage the mental load of a 24/7 global news cycle while maintaining the discipline to step back for high-value feature writing.
