Synonym is an entirely remote team working to bring new integrated products to open source protocols and cutting-edge peer-to-peer technology.

The Job

We are seeking an experienced Frontend Developer to join our team working on Pubky App freedom focused social platform. You will collaborate with our engineering team and product team to design, build, and refine intuitive and performant user interfaces across web and mobile.

You will be a key contributor to the frontend architecture of Pubky, with a focus on usability, performance, and maintainability. This role requires solid technical expertise in modern frontend frameworks, a keen eye for design details, and a passion for building beautiful and privacy-conscious user experiences.

In addition to your frontend work, you'll contribute to shaping the product experience and ensure smooth integration with backend APIs.

We use GitHub and Slack for project management.

Requirements

• Experienced with React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Redux and Node.js.
• Familiarity with Electron and Browser Extensions is a plus.
• Highly proficient in JavaScript and Typescript.
• Familiar with modern front-end pipelines and testing frameworks.
• Experienced with WebSockets, RESTful and RPC-based APIs.
• Experience with Progressive Web Apps (PWA), including offline support and app-like behavior.
• Experience with Atomic Design methodology and component-based architecture to build scalable and maintainable UI systems.
• Some familiarity with P2P and decentralized web concepts and UX considerations.
• Comfortable with delivering both pixel-perfect layouts and high-performance front-ends.
• Understanding of SEO best practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Pubky App’s web and mobile front-ends using modern frameworks and tools.
• Collaborate closely with designers and backend developers to deliver seamless and intuitive user experiences.
• Ensure high-quality, pixel-perfect UI implementation based on Figma designs.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed, performance, and accessibility.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and frontend tooling improvements.
• Work on PWA features to enhance offline use and installability.
• Ensure SEO best practices are followed for public-facing components.
• Write clean, well-documented, and tested code.
