ZTX is a virtual world empowering creators and communities. Founded in 2022, ZTX is the blockchain initiative enabled by the technology and IP of ZEPETO — the largest metaverse in Asia with over 430 million lifetime users.

Building with mass adoption in mind, we are creating a web-based 3D open world with varying levels of gamification integrated as well as opportunities for users to monetize via ownership of digital assets and social interaction. Our goal is to empower creators and communities to build, play, and earn — a world where users of all backgrounds can chart their journeys into a world beyond the physical.

We are seeking an experienced Director of Backend Engineering to lead our backend development team. This role involves overseeing the architecture, design, and implementation of server-side features for the ZTX platform. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for gaming and a track record of delivering high-quality software.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the backend engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation
• Design and implement scalable, high-performance game server architectures
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of backend systems with game design and front-end technologies
• Drive the development and maintenance of backend systems, including databases, APIs, and server logic
• Ensure security, stability, and scalability of game servers
• Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in online gaming, blockchain and backend development
• Contribute to the strategic planning and direction of our gaming platform

About You:

• 7+ years of experience in backend development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Strong proficiency in server-side programming languages (e.g., GO, Node.js)
• Extensive experience with database architecture and cloud technologies
• Proven track record in developing scalable backend systems for online multiplayer games
• You want to take risks, invent, and are driven to make the best games in the industry
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Familiarity with the crypto ecosystem (DeFi, NFTs, identity)
• Familiarity with microservices architecture
• Familiarity with IAC (Terraform, CDK, etc.)
• Experience with DevOps and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices
