The Team

Join our European Compliance team and help us shape an industry leading AML and Compliance program! The team plays a vital role in ensuring compliance across the EU  and have successfully registered and operationalised VASPs in a number of EU jurisdictions.

The team are open, inquisitive and willing to take ownership of delivery of a variety of different tasks.

The Opportunity

  • Take ownership of Italian VASP compliance and drive forward from day one

  • Act as the main point of contact (MLRO) for OAM and BoI in respect of all AML/CFT queries

  • Develop, draft, implement and operationalise compliance policies and procedures required to be compliant with Italian regulations

  • Manage regulatory relationship with OAM and BoI and take responsibility for managing regulatory inquiries and exams, including document and data retrieval

  • Ensure the ongoing compliance of the Italian entity with all applicable regulatory requirements

  • Act as a trusted partner to Product, Design, Engineering and Markets teams to assist them to structure and launch products and services and controls

  • Overseeing the implementation of new regulatory requirements as they arise and assisting with horizon scanning 

  • Monitoring outsourced compliance functions

  • Report to the Branch Management Committee on compliance related matters

  • Assist in the preparation of Management Information (MI) as required

  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs, ensuring employees are knowledgeable and aware of their obligations.

  • Develop and manage relationships with first line teams to ensure compliance

  • Assist in preparation of license/ registration applications

  • Provide compliance advisory support and guidance to COs and EU Regional Compliance team on new and existing regulations and rules, best practices and compliance with internal procedures and directives.

  • Continually seek out and implement efficiencies and process improvements

  • Collaborating with lawyers and other compliance professionals on Legal and Compliance projects related to virtual asset services businesses

  • Oversee compliance risk assessments and testing and monitoring programs in accordance with regulatory expectations and best practices

  • Oversee submission of required regulatory filings with OAM

Skills you should HODL 

  • 5+ years second-line Compliance experience in a regulated bank, crypto exchange or payments firm

  • Language proficiency in Italian is an essential requirement

  • Significant Italian regulatory experience including in relation to VASP licensing/ registrations 

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively analyse risk and apply sound judgement in a timely manner

  • Experience and/or passion for crypto preferred

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Attention to detail and strong organisational skills

  • Ability to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure.

  • Strong knowledge of regulations, particularly in EU AML, EMI and MiFID requirements in particular in Italy
