About the Role

We are looking for a Director of Compliance to join our APAC team to support our growth in the coming years. The ideal candidate is someone with familiarity around Singapore’s Payment Services Act and have experience working with the MAS and regional regulators. We are looking for someone who is excited about bringing a depth of experience and a strategic mindset at a fast-growing crypto-focused financial services company.

This is the founding hire for the compliance function in APAC, so this is a unique opportunity to design and implement a program and make it your own. If this sounds like an exciting challenge, this might be the role for you!

Your Mission:

• Responsible for day-to-day operations of the compliance and regulatory advisory function across BlockFi Asia’s business operations in the APAC region
• Oversee BlockFi Asia’s compliance function
• Supervise members of the compliance function, as required
• Manage APAC regulatory engagement strategy as well as handle regulatory inquiry in relation to the Payment Service Act license and ongoing conduct of business requirements, as well as comply and keep up to date with all relevant MAS notices
• Develop, implement and update a compliance monitoring program that ensures local requirements are addressed
• Stay up to date with regulatory trends and developments that impact business areas and advise on any material impacts to current activities
• Effectively communicate across stakeholders, including regularly advising and reporting to BlockFi Asia’s senior management
• Manage the relationship with external legal firms and outsourcing of compliance tasks
• Partner directly with relevant business and legal teams to drive regional growth in a compliant way

Your Expertise:

• You should hold formal compliance (including any AML/CFT) accreditations (e.g. ACAMS, IBF accreditation)
• You should have sufficient expertise in overseeing a firm’s compliance function
• A self-starter with relevant in-house financial services experience and an interest in the cryptocurrency space
• Experience dealing with regulators and interested in navigating an emerging regulatory environment
• Excellent communicator (written and verbal skills)
• Collaborative but with strong opinions of your own
• Highly organized and effective time management
• Excited about BlockFi and what we’re building - familiarity with digital assets is a plus
