As a protocol engineer / researcher , you contribute to the evolution of the blockchain protocol, with a particular focus on next generation improvements in performance and scalability of the Blockchain's roadmap.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze performance and scalability bottlenecks of the Cronos chain protocol and research protocol enhancements aimed at addressing these bottlenecks such as: layer 2 rollups (zero knowledge or optimistic), parallelization of EVM execution, modularization of data availability layer.
• Take responsibility for proof of concept projects, in coordination with the Cronos open-source community.
• Deliver protocol enhancements to development environment, test network, staging environment (migration dry-runs) and production.
• Monitor and maintain protocol in production.
• Remain up to date on key developments of blockchain technology in the Etherum (EVM) and Cosmos SDK / Tendermint ecosystems.
• Communicate, escalate and follow up as appropriate to ensure that problems are solved.

Job Requirement:

• Advanced academic background in distributed computing.
• Work experience in blockchain protocol development.
• Robust understanding of the EVM/Ethereum blockchain technology and, ideally, of Cosmos SDK as well.
• Track record of contributions to open-source projects.
• Ability to code. You are expected to write high quality maintainable code.
• Strong interest and alignment with the mission of Cronos, to bring the next billion users to Web3.
• Practical mindset - passion for developing not just the best technology, but the technology that is most likely to be adopted by dApp developers.
• A strong interest in working in technology and/or financial environments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
