Community Marketing Manager

Bluesky

This job is closed

Bluesky's vision is to make social more like the web itself. We're building a social media app, but beyond that, we've created a protocol that supports a broad ecosystem of applications and clients. Imagine a network of applications — from microblogging to photos to video to long-form writing — all interconnected and accessible with a shared identity.

About the Role:

We’re looking for a thoughtful and experienced Community Marketing Manager to join our team who will help shape our brand, engage with our diverse community of users, creators, and developers, and drive growth. You have a deep understanding of the social media, tech, and media landscape and have experience translating technical topics for a mainstream audience. You will work cross-functionally across product and growth and work with leadership to guide our messaging across all channels. No task is too small or too large for you, and you work quickly and efficiently, owning projects from beginning to end.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage testing groups, feature feedback, ambassador program, and day-to-day with power users and community leaders
  • Execute cross-channel strategy, develop content, and ensure creative and brand consistency, ultimately engaging, growing, and connecting Bluesky with our community
  • Write compelling content: social posts, press releases, marketing, and product content for email and blog posts
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, user sentiment, and industry developments across various channels to inform comms strategies
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as product and growth, to ensure consistent messaging
  • Manage relationships with outside contractors and agencies

You might be a good fit if you have:

  • 5+ years of experience in communications or marketing, preferably within tech or social media
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt to various tones and styles
  • Experience working in startups or small, scrappy organizations, and thrive in fast-paced work environments with tight feedback loops
  • Strong demonstrated ability to translate technical concepts to a mainstream audience
  • Strong understanding of social media and best practices for audience engagement
  • Deep understanding of different audience segments and their unique needs
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful communication campaigns
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally

We're especially excited if you:

  • Really get social media and know how to post
  • Have done a lot of writing and can show us examples of your work

If you have a passion for storytelling, understand the market, and have the ability to adapt to the fast-paced world of social media, we'd love to hear from you.
