OP Labs
$218k - $245k
Remote

OP Labs builds Optimism, an open-source blockchain network that powers the next generation of financial infrastructure. Hundreds of companies, from the world's largest enterprises like Sony, Coinbase, Kraken, Uniswap, OKX, and Bitpanda to the most ambitious early-stage builders, use the OP stack to launch their own blockchains and bring their users onchain. Today, over 65% of Layer 2 activity on Ethereum runs through the OP stack.

We are a small team building at the speed of the ecosystem we support. We’re remote-friendly but the NYC office is our center of gravity. We've raised $178M from a16z, Paradigm, and others. We have our work cut out for us and are looking for exceptional people to join us.

About the role

We are looking for a Business Intelligence Lead to own the business analytics and reporting that inform OP Labs' commercial and strategic decisions. This senior individual contributor role sits within Data & Strategy and combines business judgment, crypto knowledge, and clear communication to explain performance and recommend action.

You will partner closely with leadership, Sales, Partnerships, Product, and Finance to analyze revenue, customer activity, pipeline, and ecosystem trends. You will independently identify and scope business questions, combine onchain data with commercial data and market research, and turn findings into business cases, recurring reports, and recommendations with measurable follow-through.

What are the role responsibilities?

  • Own recurring business reporting: define and maintain metrics, dashboards, and business reviews that explain changes in revenue, customer activity, commercial pipeline, and ecosystem position.

  • Partner with leadership, Business Development, Product, and Finance to identify and prioritize business questions, scope the analysis, and translate findings into decisions.

  • Own analytical SQL, metric definitions, and data validation. Reconcile commercial and onchain sources, document discrepancies, and partner with engineering on production data infrastructure.

  • Analyze customer segments, pipeline conversion, revenue concentration, retention, and performance drivers across OP Enterprise, OP Mainnet, and the Superchain. Test competing explanations and make uncertainty explicit.

  • Produce concise memos, presentations, and dashboards that state the finding, supporting evidence, business implications, and recommended action.

  • Evaluate crypto market and competitive developments, including adoption, liquidity, stablecoin activity, and fees, in the context of customer needs and business economics.

  • Build pricing analyses, revenue scenarios, market assessments, and partnership business cases with explicit assumptions and sensitivities; track results after decisions are made.

  • Improve repeatable reporting and research workflows using SQL, BI tools, and AI-assisted analysis while remaining accountable for accuracy and source traceability.

What skills do you bring?

  • 6+ years of experience in business analytics, business intelligence, strategy, management consulting, strategic finance, or a related analytical role.

  • A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience. Management consulting experience, an MBA, or deep crypto industry knowledge are equally valued.

  • Strong commercial judgment and experience building financial models and business cases that informed pricing, customer prioritization, partnerships, or resource allocation.

  • Experience owning recurring reporting and analytical work across business functions, including agreeing metric definitions, reconciling sources, and resolving conflicting interpretations.

  • Strong SQL, spreadsheet modeling, and data visualization skills, with the ability to inspect underlying data and validate results independently. Python for analysis and automation is a plus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including concise executive recommendations, clear explanations of uncertainty, and constructive challenge with senior stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated crypto knowledge is required: working understanding of Ethereum, L2s, stablecoins, DeFi, and crypto business models, with the ability to explain what onchain metrics do and do not establish.

  • Ability to independently identify and scope ambiguous business questions, prioritize work, manage stakeholders, and follow recommendations through to measurable results.

  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate analysis and reporting while checking source data, calculations, and conclusions.

We are aware of fraudulent individuals falsely claiming to represent OP Labs in recruitment activities.
Please note:
