About Us

At Aztec Labs, we believe privacy isn’t just a fundamental right but a creative force for Web3. Our goal is to unleash the full potential of decentralised technologies by building an open, privacy-first network with no compromises.

Privacy enables use cases that would otherwise be impossible and accelerates mainstream adoption. The next wave of Web3 applications will require programmable privacy. Aztec Labs’s technology empowers developers with the tools to build private applications and bring their ideas to reality.

Our journey started while building an application to bring syndicated loans on the chain. We realised that our idea was a nonstarter without privacy. There were no solutions to offer privacy on public blockchains, so we sought to build it ourselves. Since then, we've made industry-leading advances in cryptography and deployed a private money platform and a private DeFi platform.

To realise our vision of implementing privacy on a public blockchain, we are building a world-class team of cryptographers, engineers, and ecosystem builders. We’ve raised $125 million from industry-leading investors, including a16z crypto, Paradigm, Variant, Consensys, and a_capital, and we’re growing quickly.

The Role

We are looking for a motivated Legal Intern to join our dynamic team for the summer and support our legal and regulatory efforts. You will work closely with our General Counsel and Legal Counsel to identify and navigate cutting edge global legal, regulatory and compliance challenges. This temporary summer position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the rapidly evolving field of crypto and Web3, working on the edge of legal innovation.

Your Responsibilities

  • Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments affecting the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry and provide regular updates and summaries to the team on relevant changes in laws and regulations and their impact on Aztec Labs's operations and compliance.
  • Conduct policy horizon scanning to identify potential legal and regulatory challenges and opportunities.
  • Perform detailed research on blockchain governance models, protocol developments, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on various topics, including securities law, intellectual property, data privacy, and more.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing legal contracts, advisor engagement agreements, NDAs, and other legal documents.
  • Provide general legal support as needed, including assisting with corporate governance matters, intellectual property filings, and other ad-hoc legal tasks.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal processes and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a J.D., LL.B or L.L.M. degree from an accredited law school.
  • Strong interest in regulatory and legal frameworks relevant to privacy, Web3, crypto, and fintech, including US and global financial market regulations.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Job Type: Intern
A monthly salary of US$8,000.
