As an Android engineer on this team, you'll contribute to core mobile infrastructure with a focus on stability, performance, and observability across the entire app surface. This includes building and maintaining frameworks that make our mobile apps resilient, fast, and deeply measurable—so that teams across Whatnot can deliver world-class experiences to our users. You’ll help scale and refine our Android stack, design tools and patterns that enable developer velocity, and lead efforts to ensure that every session, stream, and tap is monitored and understood. From low-level crash segmentation to high-level stream health diagnostics, you'll be part of the team that defines what excellence looks like on Whatnot's Android application. Team members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, New York City, London or Krakow hub. 👋 You Curious about who thrives at Whatnot? As our next Android engineer on App Platform, you should have 3+ years of full-time software engineering experience in high growth startups, plus:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience. Android expertise in creating fluid, responsive user interfaces. Strong knowledge of Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. Adept at reactive programming with Kotlin Coroutines and Flows. Fluent in MVI or MVVM development. Product Instinct: Excel at translating user needs to effective technical solutions. Problem Solving: Thrive in ambiguity and tackle challenging problems with creativity and autonomy. Team Leadership: Proactively improve the team environment and foster inclusive, supportive team culture. Ownership Mindset: Own projects holistically from inception to production and beyond. You are known for shipping high-quality products and features lightning-fast.

💰Compensation For Full-Time (Salary) US-based applicants: $165,000/year to $216,000/year + benefits + equity. The salary range may be inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be based on a number of factors including, level, relevant prior experience, skills, and expertise. This range is only inclusive of base salary, not benefits (more details below) or equity. 🎁 Benefits

Parental Leave

16 weeks of paid parental leave + one month gradual return to work *company leave allowances run concurrently with country leave requirements which take precedence.
