As Director of Engineering, you grow and lead one of the most visible and active software development teams in the Web3 ecosystem.

The primary role is to develop and run innovative DeFi (decentralized finance) and NFT / GameFi applications in order to enrich the Cronos ecosystem. Working with the Head of product, the engineering team has launched two massively successful products, VVS (decentralized exchange) and Tectonic (decentralized lending), with more products on the roadmap at a pace of 1 new product per month on average.

In the future, the engineering team will also contribute to protocol development of the Cronos blockchain technology, in cooperation with other teams who maintained and contributed to the Cronos open-source project so far.

You will:

  • Work in close partnership with the Head of Product in order to deliver on the product roadmap
  • Develop and lead a software engineering team at scale
  • Grow the engineering team, fast but sustainably from the ground up. Attracting and coaching talent will remain a constant in this role
  • Maintain a culture of creativity, empowerment and personal development within the engineering team
  • Set up the guardrails that allow the team to move fast with high quality
  • Develop standards and procedures to ensure that quality is consistently high
  • Work closely with the Cronos and leadership teams, partnership and marketing teams, and partner teams, to plan and execute the delivery of the product roadmap

  • 10+ year’s experience leading software engineering teams
  • Experience working in globally distributed teams
  • Highly structured and strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Proven ability to attract, hire and retain world-class engineering talent
  • Ability to empower and develop people (managers, team leaders, and engineers)
  • Successfully led a team of 30+ engineers and understands scaling challenges
  • Seeking to continuously improve the service and technology stack
  • High energy, driven, ambitious
  • Enthusiasm for the mission, company, and technology. Be knowledgeable about industry trends, best practices
  • Exceptionally good written and verbal English communication skills. Ability to provide clarity to all level engineering personnel to ensure that the team you lead understand current priorities and roadmaps, as well as with management to articulate concepts and progress of delivery of strategic roadmaps
