We are looking for an ambitious and proactive Associate Counsel to join our growing Legal Team.Â
As Associate Counsel, you will provide legal advice and help ensure efficiency in legal processes and operations. Day-to-day, you will have the opportunity to support a broad range of legal work, including contract drafting and negotiation, deal execution, regulatory filings, legal research, fund formation and maintenance and various special projects. Â
You will work within a team of accomplished and supportive attorneys to find novel solutions to complex legal and regulatory challenges. No one day will look exactly the same as the next. Â
This role is perfect for those that thrive in a dynamic startup environment, are energized by new challenges, and want to broaden their experience through highly varied work.Â
What you'll do:
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including investor related agreements, vendor agreements and NDAsÂ
- Provide legal advice on general corporate matters, governance and regulatory matters affecting the business and its initiativesÂ
- Support business teams on operational, commercial, and strategic initiatives from a legal perspectiveÂ
- Manage and mitigate legal risk in day-to-day business operationsÂ
- Liaise with external counsel on specialized legal mattersÂ
- Maintain corporate records and ensure compliance with statutory obligations and filingsÂ
- Provide guidance and support to Finance and HR functionsÂ
- Contribute to the development and implementation of internal policies and proceduresÂ
Our ideal candidate:
- 1-3 years of experience in a legal counsel role, preferably in a finance or investment environmentÂ
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law schoolÂ
- Admitted to the New York State Bar AssociationÂ
- Knowledge of digital assets is preferred but not essentialÂ
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skillsÂ
- Ability to provide practical, commercially minded legal adviceÂ
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues to non-legal stakeholdersÂ
- Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlinesÂ
- Sound judgment and decision-making in a fast-paced environmentÂ
$150,000 - $165,000 a year
A well-qualified candidate, based in New York City, can expect a base salary of $150,000.00-$165,000.00. A standard offer from Hivemind Capital includes base compensation, incentive-based compensation such as discretionary bonuses or upside, and a highly competitive benefits and perks package. Offers are determined by a number of factors including (but not limited to) the applicant's experience, skills, certifications, as well as internal equity among our team.Â
