Edge & Node’s initial product is The Graph, an indexing protocol for querying networks like Ethereum and IPFS, which ensures open data is always available and easy to access. The Graph is used by thousands of protocols and dapps including Uniswap, Livepeer, Aave, Decentraland, and more. Edge & Node also launched Everest, a decentralized registry with the mission to catalyze the shift to web3, facilitating community-driven curation of projects providing ongoing utility to the crypto space.

The Graph-Node Engineering team is focused on building and maintaining core software components that make The Graph work. We are especially focused on graph-node, an Open Source Rust project that provides the core indexing capabilities of The Graph.

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated database administrator that can help us scale and manage the databases supporting The Graph Studio and Hosted Service. This role requires a deep understanding of data storage and indexing at scale, in the context of Postgres databases. Graph Studio and Hosted Services are high throughput services and the care and feeding of these systems is a critical role in our organization.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Manage and support a high-scale Postgres database, running across multiple instances in Google Cloud
• Guide and contribute to the graph-node software as it relates to database interactions
• Architect index structures that support flexible querying without compromising insertion speed
• Troubleshoot database performance issues and ensure MTRR for failures is minimized
• Create and maintain best practices for long-term data management

What We Expect

• Experience managing and supporting large and complex mission-critical production databases
• Experience with all phases of SDLC, from requirements to operational support
• Deep working knowledge of database architecture and implementation, including networking, scaling, fault-tolerance, locking, security, etc.
• Experience working with partners and customers to understand database performance challenges and identifying primary contributing factors
• Proficiency in tuning database for performance, scalability and availability
